Do you weigh the same or close to the same as when you got married?

The responders are self-selecting. If more people started out with "no, not even close" it could have gone that way.

It's self-selection just like those "what do you earn/how much have you saved" threads in the money forum.

omg Just said the exact same.

Same.

Glad your husbands are happy. No way in hell I could be happy 50 lbs overweight, though!

I’m the “same” poster. I don’t like being overweight and I’m actively working on changing that.

Not among UMC white women in HCOL cities.

Seriously, size 14? That cannot be true.

I’m the same weight...10 years, 2 kids later.

I think is mostly genetics...I can maintain 145-155 pounds pretty without a lot of work. I do put in that work though. I’m a sahm, fwiw, so do have plenty of time to go to the gym. That said if I didn’t have that positive feedback loop or had to basically eat nothing to not be obese, then I would probably be obses.

Met 17 years ago, married 12 years ago, I can't remember what I weighed back then, but I would guess I'm about 17 lb heavier now (roughly a pound a year of weight gain). I still wear same size skirts, went up maybe one size in pants. DH is not complaining.

I think it is true. Think about it -- 33% of Americans are overweight about 33% more are obese. That could easily translate to size 14 average.

And PP -- I'm neither anorexic nor lying. I'm 5'4'' and weighed in at 124.4 lbs. this morning on our bathroom scale. Same weight I was when we got married.

I eat healthy, but I'm not crazy about it.

I’m up about 10 lbs. I lost 10 pounds when we got married, and then after the wedding gained it back. I’m 145 5’5, a size 6. I lost the 10 pounds again last year and gained it back. In order to be ten pounds thinner I basically can’t eat and never drink. Sigh. Im going to try to lose it again after the first of the year. I work out a lot but I know I need to watch my diet more.

I weigh less.

85 when I got married in '97

A lot less now due to health issues.

No kids.

DH has probably gained about 25 lbs, but still looks great and is very active.

I'm size 12 and thin.

When I was size 10 my doctor told me to gain weight, but I didn't want to because the message I received as a young woman was that size 8 is perfect, 10 is big and 12 is overweight.

LOL!!! You’re overweight if not obese. A size 12 isn’t any thinner than a size 20.

I was 115 on my wedding day 30 years ago. I was 117 on Tuesday at my annual check up. I’m 52.

I weigh less now. Gained 30 lbs with an IUD, eating crazy, and drinking like a fish as newlyweds. Removed the IUD, stopped drinking, and overhauled my diet (keto) and lost the weight plus more.
