I agree with you. I think she’s impressive and has great hair but I don’t find her face attractive at all. I’d call her downright homely. Different tastes for different people. She isn’t mine at all-and I know she doesn’t care. But I’m not a jerk just because I don’t find her beautiful.

People have different tastes in beauty but you may want to consider that you have a Western dominated idea of beauty. A lot of the things mentioned in this thread (strong features, larger nose) are just part of being from a different race/ethnicity than the typical cover model.

This is incorrect. The large nose is frequently fixed by a nose job. That's not an American beauty judgment.

Lots of plastic surgery, i.e. nose jobs, is mostly an American thing. Other cultures live with what they've got.

Oh, stop. Us Iranians have the most nose jobs per capita.

Show me the data behind that. Oh wait, you can't.

PP’s information may be a bit dated, but Iran has been named the country with the most nose jobs. https://www.pri.org/stories/2013-03-01/iran-has-highest-rate-nose-jobs-world

Korea and Australia seem to be taking the top spot now.

That link says they're getting nose jobs to attain more westernized appearances. That's sad.

Exactly. Don’t lecture us on beauty and culture. We live in one of the most diverse places in the US wth a sizeable Middle Eastern population. We know what beauty is.

It’s pretty arrogant to assume people from other cultures get plastic surgery to look more Western. Believe it or not, not everybody wants to be Caucasian.

People accuse Koreans of trying to look more Caucasian, when they’re actually trying to reach a Korean beauty standard that has nothing to do with western beauty standards. Many cultures have prized smaller noses long before they had any western influence.

It's so tiresome when people with very, very little exposure to other cultures declare that everything "bad" is American and "other cultures" are immune. It's just not true. Plastic surgery is way, way, way less common in the US than in many places in asia and latin America. Please, understand that we are all human and America is not the root of all evil. You sound like a sheltered, university student communist.

Maybe you should try reading the article posted about Iranian women and their love of plastic surgery for their noses.

It is predominantly women having rhinoplasty surgery as they strive to attain "doll faces" like those they see in Hollywood films.

Don’t forget all the commentary that changing their noses is a way to rebell against wearing a hijab.

For all the talk about whether she spends time with her kids, I can't envision George Clooney engaging with them for more than 5 minutes a day to read one book or something. 1 year olds just need such boring engagement - making small talk with them at dinner, dumping out the same bucket of legos 100 times - he seems like the distant grandpa type who would smile indulgently and spend an easy few minutes but otherwise leave it to other people

+1

It is an opposite problem. Koreans want wide (more round and less horizontally slanted/squinty) eyes, and often add a bridge (or close to) on their noses - at least to properly hold eyeglasses; whereas Iranians want "less of a bridge". But yes, I can see where people take either to mean that we are Westernizing our looks.
