Exactly. Don’t lecture us on beauty and culture. We live in one of the most diverse places in the US wth a sizeable Middle Eastern population. We know what beauty is.

It’s pretty arrogant to assume people from other cultures get plastic surgery to look more Western. Believe it or not, not everybody wants to be Caucasian.

People accuse Koreans of trying to look more Caucasian, when they’re actually trying to reach a Korean beauty standard that has nothing to do with western beauty standards. Many cultures have prized smaller noses long before they had any western influence.

It's so tiresome when people with very, very little exposure to other cultures declare that everything "bad" is American and "other cultures" are immune. It's just not true. Plastic surgery is way, way, way less common in the US than in many places in asia and latin America. Please, understand that we are all human and America is not the root of all evil. For all the talk about whether she spends time with her kids, I can't envision George Clooney engaging with them for more than 5 minutes a day to read one book or something. 1 year olds just need such boring engagement - making small talk with them at dinner, dumping out the same bucket of legos 100 times - he seems like the distant grandpa type who would smile indulgently and spend an easy few minutes but otherwise leave it to other people

It is an opposite problem. Koreans want wide (more round and less horizontally slanted/squinty) eyes, and often add a bridge (or close to) on their noses - at least to properly hold eyeglasses; whereas Iranians want "less of a bridge". But yes, I can see where people take either to mean that we are Westernizing our looks.
