Once you have some work experience you can get jobs in the burbs, get out of soul sucking DC and join the land of the living.

Yes, that’s my dream as a lawyer: To work at a shitty 5-person law firm in the suburban hinterlands of Kentlands, with UMD and University of Baltimore grads

Good, then we don’t need you here. You sound like a massive jerk.

Troll fail.

But...but you’re living the dream out there in Gaithersburg/Kentlands/Lakelands/The Boondocks. I envy you!

What’s your problem? I’ve lived all over and honestly enjoy it here. It’s a great place to raise our daughter. If you don’t like it that’s fine, but don’t act like I’m some sort of hick.

How many years have you spent working 80 hr weeks for the priviledge of living 30 min closer to DC? I am honestly confused on why you are even in this thread.

I work 80 hrs and my H is banging his secretary ... but my commute is 10 min. Well it's 10 minutes to the metro then 10 minutes on the metro then 5 more minutes.

So ... 25 min?

Not PP, but I honestly do. We would love to live in Kentlands or Lakelands but don't want a TH(only thing in our price range). We live nearby in Quince Orchard Park which goes to NWHS. We like it but I feel like we are definitely missing out on a lot not living there, with better schools and a better community. Also a lot of very wealthy families in there with kids driving new Mercedes and BMWs and Jeeps, so I am happy that DS won't experience that in our neighborhood or NW since he will be getting my old mini-van in a couple years. Everyone who lives there loves it.

Neighborhood real estate doing fine, many houses recently sold for over 1 mil. That's a lot for outside the beltway.

I’m the poster you’re addressing. I live in DC, and my commute from home to work is exactly 3 stops on the Red Line (about 6 minutes). I don’t work anywhere close to 80 hours a week, but my career allows me to afford a beautiful single family house in the city, no student loans (paid off), a wonderful FREE Spanish immersion education for my children (but private school tuition if we choose), and world class cultural events and institutions within walking distance or a short metro ride. Thanks for asking.

And yet you’re a condescending ass, so I don’t envy you one little bit.

Facts? it's outdated, the commute to DC is untenable and schools are mediocre.

The HS is the 5th best in MD, according to US News. The median sales price, excluding condos, is $800K. Not everyone works in DC, so I don’t get why you keep bringing that up.

Interesting topic, too bad the DC folks are trashing the area for being too far from where they work.
