It's way more complicated than ranking. They don't rank how much kids love their school. QO is ranked 4 in US News, but if they ranked happiness of students, by far QO would out rank all schools in MoCo. |
You plainly don't know what you're talking about. Dream on. |
I know you’re just obsessed with bashing QO, but can you give any evidence to back your claim? |
I don't have to dream, it's real life. |
The Crown HS will be much worse than QO since it will bring in kids from Gaithersburg HS and RM HS. Kentlands will luck out school-wise since the bad areas that feed into QO will most likely be moved to Crown since it is literally across the street. |
I think PP does know what she is talking about. It is ranked 4th best in MCPS but in other rankings sometimes the 3 Bethesda schools mixed into the top as well, so if you count those then no matter what it is always in the top 7 on any scale. Definitely happiest students too with all that school spirit and big football. |
Oh no!!1!!!!!!!!!!1!!! Wait, what? |
Yep. We were at the Kentlands tree lighting tonight and the mayor showed up, as well as the QO QB and Athletic Director. Everyone cheered. There were carolers and cookies and Santa came. Then we went to get tacos at Sin and Grin and went home. Lovely evening and didn’t have to touch our car. |
| We used to live in a townhouse on Tschiffely Square across from the Kentlands pool. We loved it. I loved coming home from work in the summer, going across the street to the pool and hanging out with our friends and neighbors. We loved walking around the neighborhood— there were always people out and about. We loved how everyone decorated for Halloween and the holidays. Truly the most fun, social suburban place I’ve lived. After 10 years we got tired of being crammed in with so many neighbors and moved to a larger house with a larger yard in the burbs. Our neighborhood now is so boring— but we have more room. A trade off. |
| My family lived in The Kentlands in its' hey day. I loved QO and my brother loved RC, Ridgeview and QO. It was interesting. I only finished out QO as we moved late in my HS yeats. I feel now like most of those houses are outdated and not updated enough. There are rituals in the Kentlands which is cool. We were very tight knit in the Gate House district. It is walkable but not to much. It is cliquey but most places are. The HOA is hell. I could make a quilt with all the bullshit citations we got and we were great xitizen's. The KCA are a bunch of uber control freaks. But, I liked the feeling of security when I lived there. When my Dad became a widow and moved, he offered me the home but I passed. It is not my taste and I do not want to raise entitled children like my brother and his friends. |
I miss the carolers and Santa!! |
Kids can be entitled wherever. Neighborhood doesn’t matter. Everything becomes outdated unless people update. People are renovating lots of Kentlands homes, including ours. It’s brand new, basically. One day Crown and all the new places will be outdated too. We’ve lived here for 3 years and have never gotten a citation. |
In its heyday?! The whole neighborhood isn't even 30 years old. (Also, I am wondering what "not too walkable" would even be.) |
| For those of you who live in the Kentlands / Lakelands area, do the majority not commute into DC? If you do the commute, do you drive, or take MARC? How is it? (I'm not asking to be snarky, I am genuinely asking because we're starting to look at our options) |

You've got to stop clinging to the one time ranking in US News and World Report. Yes, it was exciting because QO never makes this list but the achievement is really short lived. QO scored pretty badly on the MD report card and only received a 66% while NW scored one point higher at 67%. Since all the schools are scored you can't count on inching up because BCC, Whitman and others didn't report scores so the bad score plus more competition will push you way farther back in the rankings.
If you want to boost QO, you need tp change your talking point as your ranking has just tanked. Start parroting how rankings don't matter. |
