Official Brett Kavanaugh Thread, Part 3

I don't think he assaulted Ford. There a couple of reasons why:

1. The friend that she went to the party with does not support her story. If things happened the way that she said they did, her friend would have remembered that night. She left the party without talking to her friend. That friend would have been angry. Two girls at a house with 4 boys and one of them leaves without telling the other? That friend would have called her the next day asking what the heck happened. Also what kind of friend gets assaulted by two guys and leaves her friend in the house with the same two guys???

2. Her family is not supporting her. That is very telling.

-I thought they, the FBI, had considered and decided no. I brought this up yesterday but it got lost in the massive Part 2 thread.
-as I’ve heard legal experts suggest (liberal ones too!), the FBI doesn’t judge on the matter. You will still have 98% probability that no conclusion will be made. The 2% chance is worth it I suppose but as I heard someone on LRC put it, the FBI isn’t “magical.”
-what is their exact jurisdiction on this? In the way they investigate cases, they don’t usually take on 35yo cases in which no charges were filed. (Educate me here)

I don’t know but the main goal of involving the FBI is they can subpoena Mark Judge, Leland Keyser, PJ, the polygrapher, etc. They can be questioned and cross examined.

FBI would interview all relevant witnesses as determined by them.

Question - If Kav gets confirmed (or not) could he sue for defamation? What about Mark Jusge? Who could be liable - Ford and Feinstein?

For the cheap seats in the back:
1. It wasn’t a big deal for her friend because her friend wasn’t pinned down on the bed with a drunk future frat boy trying to talk off her suit.
2. It’s not telling at all. Lots of families don’t want to rock their social boat. Women generally aren’t believed, so why speak out and get themselves banished from the club?

Sure. You know these things. You are revealing yourself to be someone who lives by emotion and not facts.
Just because YOU don’t believe him, these are all lies. Sure.

Dp, but these are all easily proven lies he told yesterday.

PROVEN lies? You are kidding me. Tell me, how do you plan on proving them?

It has been reported by multiple sources he watched her testimony, Sure. I believe them. They were at his home, I guess./s
I’ve read the letters, they are very narrow in their language, too narrow to actually exonerate him. None are sworn testimony, signed by lawyers on firm letterhead, would not be admissible. They are in public domain if you want to see them yourself. The SJC disagrees with you.

Renate, Devil’s Triangle, boofimg — could easily get testimony from his class at GP to rebut.Go ahead. Have them dispute it. Basically, you are saying he is lying when you have no proof of that. Typical.

No one, because he did it.

How did we get to this hellhole? Is there any path forward?

Yes, there is a way. Vote out every single senator who supports Kavanaugh today. Every one of them needs to be gone. Supporting such an obvious liar and political hack is disqualifying. Remove every one of them.

But there is no path forward. By refusing to move Obama's federal judge nominees forward, and by refusing to allow Merrick Garland a hearing, McConnell has packed the federal judiciary with super conservatives. And they are going to spend the next 30-40 years upholding the white, male, minority privilege through

--allowing gerrymandering
--striking down voting rights
--limiting worker's rights to organize
--allowing unlimited corporate money in politics

That's just the stuff they are going to do to preserve their political power. Just for fun, these same judges will also be:

--striking down affirmative action
--striking down Roe and state-level abortion protections
--allowing employers and landlords to discriminate
--reducing consumer protections
--striking down environmental laws

etc etc

PP is correct.
And, don’t forget that her friend, Leland, says she has never met Kavanaugh. That is important.

Both her friend, and her family could simply not want to be involved. And the way CBF has been treated, can you blame them? None of them have been interviewed by law enforcement, as would be customary. Letters from lawyers are hardly the same thing.

To watch a panic stricken Republican Party is glorious , they’ve put themselves in an impossible situation . Even if kavanaugh were to be confirmed his tenure will be a hellhole because clearly this issue isn’t going anyway anytime soon. We still have to hear from other accusers

She “does not recall.” AKA “leave me out of it.”

Her friend says she doesn't recall. She's not supporting or disclaiming it.

There are many families that are unsupportive of sexual assault victims. CBF's family appears to be one of them.
As for CBF's friend, she apparently told the Post that she believes CBF, even if she can't remember the party or BK. Of course, if the FBI were able to conduct interviews, there may be more information about this. As we all know, however, BK doesn't want the FBI finding out more information.
