Official Brett Kavanaugh Thread, Part 3

So we are basically telling sexual assault victims - don’t do the right thing, don’t try to protect others, don’t destroy your own life, because ultimately no one will care.

Poor CBF probably regrets the day she contacted Rep. Eschew and WaPo. I bet she wishes for a time machine.

Am extremely disheartened with yesterday’s hearing. Very sad with how the republicans acted and legitimized rich white men’s entitlement. Still trying to process the disappointmentment.

In the meantime, wondering what everyone would have thought if Hillary Clinton would have this level of meltdown, outburst and lashing out in public? What about Obama, if he would have acted this way ever?

How did we get to this hellhole? Is there any path forward?

Oh, please. THAT NEVER HAPPENED!

My best understanding is the president. Apparently, it was Bush who got the FBI in for the Anita Hill affair.

If that is the case I think the chance of it happening is 0???

Yes, there is a way. Vote out every single senator who supports Kavanaugh today. Every one of them needs to be gone. Supporting such an obvious liar and political hack is disqualifying. Remove every one of them.

That may be the case, but we don’t know that her office did not give it to another staffer/person to leak.
The truth is that it was either her office, or the office of Anna Eshoo. Those were the only two who had the letter.

The GOP - including political operative Brett Kavanaugh - has no problem stealing or using stolen documents. No problem with that at all.

What else?

Sure. You know these things. You are revealing yourself to be someone who lives by emotion and not facts.
Just because YOU don’t believe him, these are all lies. Sure.

Dp, but these are all easily proven lies he told yesterday.

PROVEN lies? You are kidding me. Tell me, how do you plan on proving them?

It has been reported by multiple sources he watched her testimony,
I’ve read the letters, they are very narrow in their language, too narrow to actually exonerate him. None are sworn testimony, signed by lawyers on firm letterhead, would not be admissible. They are in public domain if you want to see them yourself.
Legal drinking age, matter of public record
Renate, Devil’s Triangle, boofimg — could easily get testimony from his class at GP to rebut.

No, everyone but the white male power structure will care. Cold comfort, but the truth.

Did you watch his 30+ hours of testimony 2 weeks ago?
Yesterday he was there defending his reputation, his integrity and his livelihood. He was facing people who had called him “evil” and a “danger to all.” He was facing people who had proudly and publicly said, “I believe her” before hearing any testimony. He had every right to be angry. He had every right to show his fury at these ridiculous charges.
And, no, he could not adequately defend himself without showing his outrage. Had he done that, you folks would still say, “Look... he really is guilty. An innocent man would have more anger.”

Face it - NOTHING he did would please you.

This. So much this.

I honestly cannot believe some people think he should have somehow handled himself better. The man is being acused of sexual assault. I expect him to be angry and show it.

He is not presiding over a court case. He is defending his reputation.

Exactly.

Had he NOT been angry, libs would've said it was proof he was lying. Coincidentally, because he was angry, libs said it was proof he was lying.

The funny part is, none of the libs have even considered what happens when Kav isn't confirmed next week: he goes back to his seat on the SECOND highest court in the country, and spends the next 25-30 years seeking revenge against any and all libs who have cases before him! Hahahahaha!!!! It's almost even better if he doesn't make it to the USSC, because he'll do far more good in the lower court, smashing lib skulls (and hopes) with his gavel!

I expect calm and dignity in the face of accusations.
Not a shocking display of partisanship and anger.
Especially for a Supreme Court position.

Perhaps you are OK with this because you have a higher tolerance for anger issues, but we don't act like this in our house and professional life, PPs.
It's indicative of very low standards of social behavior that you support what he did yesterday. I don't think anyone who has been raised correctly should be fine with this.
The sad thing is... I also suspect that you would not have approved had Dr. Blasey Ford behaved the same way Judge Kavanaugh did. Sigh.

Yes it did. I believe Ford. Kav showed us that he is a liar.

If she does, that would certainly explain some very inappropriate behavior on her part towards an acquaintance of mine back in the early 90's, in an office in the Russell building.

She'd better tread lightly, because the #metoo movement can mean "men too"

Why tread lightly, bra? Bretty showed - just lie harder. The old white male fossils will lap it up (of course, they’re also all ensnared by Russia and have a vested interest in getting a dirtbag on the Court to protect their sorry butts).

And again, GO AHEAD AND ACCUSE WHOEVER YOU LIKE. Make a fuss. Go on TV. Your threats are laughable because you know, deep down, that in such cases only true victims have the courage to speak out.

Really? How about answering yes or no to yes or no questions?

How about NOT meanly asking a US Senator if SHE had a drinking problem? For which he apologized, so even HE recognizes that he did not handle himself well in at least that one exchange.

He did answer yes or no to many of the questions. Not the stupid ones, though.
And, I am not judging him for his anger and outrage. He has every right. I dare say I would not have conducted myself half as well had charges of gang rape been leveled at me.

This wasn’t about the gang rape. Crazed political operative Kavanaugh can’t control his rage. (I.e., he’s completely believable as a rapist).

When someone shows you who they are, believe them.

I do not know why the Dems didn't follow up on it, but there are two entries, one that says "Columbia" and one that lists his friends (three of whom were named by Ford) and "ski's" - likely brewski's, that fit the timeframe, working backwards from when Judge was working at the Safeway.

There was also a reference to one of the boys grandmothers house which was a mile from Columbia Country Club - a short work for a group of kids who might want to go to an empty house to drink beer covertly.

I am hypothesizing, but the FBI would be able to look at the timeline and match recollections, addresses etc.

Reportedly, the GOP prosecutor also told the GOP meeting that there wasn’t even enough to get a warrant. But I don’t disagree with you about the calendars.

As a prosecutor, I disagree. Pretty easy to establish probable cause, low threshold and have sworn testimony of victim with a credible ID of the suspect Not sure what you would need to seize via search warrant though. Don’t neee to meet any standard of proof to subpoena relevant witnesses.
