Trump lost the election by 3 milllion votes. It was slavery era EC that won him the election. Infact the GOP has won the popular vote just once since 1988. Trump just successfully demagogued the immigration issue with gullible voters who were spooked by Benghazi and Email. Jim comey helped by reopening the email investigation days before election. It is the republicans who want more immigration on request from chamber of commerce types and corporate overlords. Why do you think the GOP opposes mandatory e-verify? Also the Midwest was affected NOT by immigration but by manufacturing jobs being taken over by machines and China. The GOP supporting corporate execs care not about Enoloyees but only about their stock bonus. Income inequality is directly due to tax cut after tax cut for the rich and corporations thanks to the GOP. But the GOP just come it’s voters to vote against their own self interest by not providing them access to education or healthcare BUT instead blaming minorities and immigrants for all their troubles. How long can this con job last? |

H1B visas are a tiny pool that doesn’t change the labor market for tech at all. Heck H1B keeps the talent and taxes here instead of sending those very same jobs to india via internet. If an American says he lost his job die to h1B then he/she is just too lazy to learn new technologies. Period. H1Bs are also quid pro quo to India coz American companies like google, MS, CISCO, GE,Boeing, P&G, Ford etc make billions in India and creates millions of jobs in the US due to access to Indian market. This is globalization in action. US is the net beneficiary of globalization coz with only 5% of world market we can’t be doing much BUT globalization opens the other 95% of the world to our companies. |

No you are wrong. Just because the democratic party fight for minority rights and basic human rights DOESN'T make them pro-illegal immigration. The GOP wants to show the dem in poor lights by tagging them as pro-illegal immigrants, BECAUSE thats how the GOP cons the base while screwing them by taking away healthcare and education. The system isn't really designed for that. It's designed for two parties. And honestly, I agree with the PP that it works best when there are two viable parties and, I would add, both parties have a healthy number of moderates in order to work together in a bipartisan way on the issues that shouldn't and haven't historically been hyper partisan. The moderates also tend to be the ones that push both parties toward compromise on things that have to get done (like the budget) and should be done with input from both parties to ensure that all Americans, via their representatives in Congress, have a voice. It shouldn't be a winner-takes-all system, and I don't think the founders intended it to be a winner-takes-all system because that would mean dramatic change when the power shifts, and the founders seemed to design the system with an eye toward stability and continuity but still allowing for healthy debate and incremental change. |

It's backing up its complaint, in part, with numbers. The lawsuit, filed this week in federal court in San Francisco, claims that 95% of the 14,000 people Tata employs in the U.S. are South Asian or mostly Indian. It says this practice has created a "grossly disproportionate workforce." India-based Tata achieves its "discriminatory goals" in at least three ways, the lawsuit alleges. First, the company hires large numbers of H-1B workers. Over from 2011 to 2013, Tata sponsored nearly 21,000 new H-1B visas, all primarily Indian workers, according to the lawsuit's count. Second, when Tata hires locally, "such persons are still disproportionately South Asian," and, third, for the "relatively few non-South Asians workers that Tata hires," it disfavors them in placement, promotion and termination decisions.
