Scary reaction to flu shot in Loudoun...

Has anyone ever had flu before? I've had it. It knocked me off my ass. And I'm a healthy, fit person who rarely gets sick.

I can't imagine that same or a similar illness ravaging the body of an infant or toddler who doesn't have as strong an immune system. I could definitely see how it could lead to complications in some kids that lead to death or hospitalization. And hospitalization for an infant or toddler is no picnic, especially with the likelihood of MRSA and other hospital-acquired infections that are on the rise, are resistant to antibiotics, and cause major complications themselves.

But much more rational for us to all fear DYSTONIA! Oh my God DYSTONIA - we're all going to catch it!!!!!

I saw the WUSA news report on Desiree's condition this evening and I think the misinformation represented in that news segment is unforgivable. Additionally, Desiree has a full face of makeup on in the segment (when she is being interviewed and also in the 'incapacited' video clips). Is her husband applying her makeup, or is she miraculously spared any muscle tremors/spasms during makeup application?

Dystonia can also be a complication of silcone poisoning. Have Desiree and her medical staff explored a possible leakage from silicone implants?

My point for posting it is that since the girl in the article was on them for months...we dont know if her condition or resistance to the antibiotic caused her condition to remain dormant and therefore had a reaction to the flu shot. I am just trying to point out that we dont have all the facts in the OP's article.

Infection can cause Dystonia. If she had an infection and that was why she was on antibiotics, that could be the cause.

First of all conductor stupid of the moron express. Desiree live with another female, who if she wanted to could apply her makeup. Second of all, she can control her seizures and spasms to a point. Its not like she is totally cripple. She has random attacks, and she has developed tricks and work arounds to be able to carry out her daily life. She isnt stuck to the couch or incapacitated to a wheel chair.

Just isnt the same marathon runner, cheerleader, productive member of society, she used to be. Sometimes Desiree is totally normal and one wouldnt guess that she has Dystonia. Id be more than willing to bet she intentionally skipped her medication dose to shoe the area what this mind control "flu shot" has done to her. Swine flu was patented in 2008 by Medimmune. Go ahead and get your shot that they push to keep us all dumbed down. Pharmaceutical companies love the contracts and millions theyre making off of this crap vaccine for this synthetic virus.

I feel bad for the children of any parent that believes that this shot will help their kids. Rise up and take the power back.

It wasn't a swine flu shot (which is by the way, H1N1 and not called swine flu anymore, which leads me to believe you are not an authority, or even someone who has read up on this). It was a seasonal flu shot.

But yeah, fight the power! Just make sure to get your facts straight and get educated first.

I completely agree! My DS has been fully vaccinated also (except for the flu shot) and it is undeniable that ALL medications/vaccines have some side effects. It is up to you to decide whether the risks of those side effects is worth it to you.

Would CVS be throwing so much money into advertising the flu shots if they weren't turning a profit? This is a really uneducated, simplistic, and just plain wrong way of looking at things. For the H1N1 vaccine, the government is paying every cent. All major health plans are covering it. The government and insurance companies will be losing hundreds of millions on this vaccine. The CDC is losing millions advertising for this - and educating the public. Do you think they would sit blindly by and lose millions just so four vaccine manufacturers can make money? Uh, no.

Doesn't anyone remember Thalidamide? A scientist in Europe detailed the birth defects that would occur with this drug, and the FDA continued to assure us that it was safe. Guess what? It wasn't.

The people at these agencies - CDC, FDA are only human. I'm sure they do the best they can, but there are other forces at work in the pharmaceutical industries that influence health care in this country.

I'm not a bitch, but will admit I'm being nasty on this thread because I'm so sick of parents on DCUM trying to make me feel like an idiot for following my pediatrician, or implying that I'm following her blindly. These stories get posted - a one in a million chance of a complicatin, and people get hysterical. Yet, the chance of getting flu and having serious complications is much more common and likely.

So yeah, it gets my defenses up, especially since the non vaccinators are putting everyone at increased risk. I simply won't take it lying down.

The CDC is losing millions? Are they a business? I thought they were a govt. agency.

The CDC is a business in that they have a budget, and when one program (pandemic flu) has to take up a certain amount of money, it means other programs get cut, and that has major implications for other public health issues. So it's a big deal for many who are health advocates and have to watch the causes they are passionate about have fewer resources.
