DS's friend lives far away- report?

yes anon report to principal, central office and whomever handles boundary and tax issues. they can check for you if there is a legit arrangement or not or what the father's domicile helps or not, or the co-parenting arrangement (or none if never legally married/separated).

stop the bullying. there are rules and laws for good reason.

just report it and let the county do its job. if it wants residency fraud, it will do nothing. if it does not want residency fraud, it will find the truth.

We are going into our 6th year at our ES and have seen dozens of families who live out of boundary. Nobody bats an eye! The parents are often very upfront about it.

I think it is incredibly difficult to catch when people are using family members addresses. How do you prove that Larlo does not actually live with Grandma or Aunt Betty? No way they can ever actually prove fraud.

Authorities should ask them and see proof. If they want to lie about it and pay for some bills for grandma to fake residency, then that's the kind of ethics and morals they have. But only by asking will you know how deep they are into lying. And remember, they have to live with themselves, not you. I'm sure they are rationalizing their fraud in their head quite well, or their victimization stories too. Unhealthy.

I don’t think that the families who do this think they are actually doing anything wrong. And they know it is very u likely that they will be caught or reported!

My DS’ soccer teammate moved out to Frederick last year but attends an MCPS HS using his grandmother’s address. They don’t see themselves as doing anything strange.

I think it’s strange because Frederick performed better on the recent PARCC reports than MCPS! I’d be happy if we could move to Frederick to get out of MCPS.

Even if Frederick performs better than MCPS, how competitive are those kids in Frederick? What are the social groups like? I want my kids to be around other children who will push them to Ivy Leagues and push them to be better. I don’t want them surrounded by small town folk who don’t believe in type A ness.
