What authorities??!! |
| The kid could have a Cosa to attend. |
So let me get this straight. You want to report her, because deep down you are upset because your son made friend with his son without knowing they live so far away, and now you have to drive very far. So basically you want to get even with her. I'd say, go for it. |
FBI. |
Anyone and everyone who will listen. This is probably important enough to be a highlight in the PTA newsletter. |

OP, not sure why people are being so nasty. I think it’s fair to ask.
MCPS is very, very lax with regards to residency requirements. We have dozens of kids at our elementary school who use false addresses. Most parents are pretty upfront about it and the teachers even know (because kids are pretty honest). Nobody really ‘reports’ anything. Not much you can do. My co-worker lives in Frederick and her kid attends MCPS using a false address. |
OP is getting the "nasty" replies because she needs to mind her own business and for the reason she wants to report the child. OP, this isn't brain surgery. Get to know the parent(s) and then once a month, on a Friday might, the child can come over straight from school and they can have a sleepover. |
|
I think she's getting some nasty replies because she really doesn't seem to know this family's situation or whether they are gaming the system. It's one thing to contemplate reporting if you KNOW there's fraud, it's different to contemplate it when you don't.
Also, a surprising number of people just seem to enjoy being nasty on the internet in anonymous forums. |
so what, too much speculation. just report it so county looks into it. if the truth is fraud it will be dealt with, if the truth is some complex childcare arrangement that has been approved, it will be confirmed. yes, report it so they can do their jobs and look into it. |
Just keep telling yourself so you accept your own fraud. |
| You do know that Germantown isn't THAT far away, right? |
I should have added that this is in reference to your DS wanting to hang out there. |
Report it to the school and MCPS central office. Just say: Please check in to the residency of XYZ child and if s/he is truly districted for ABC school in which s/he attends on a daily basis. It appears that said child does not live within the county, but perhaps there is a previously put in place arrangement that you could verify or confirm. thank you, concerned taxpayer |

Yes, because the message you want to teach your son is he should be suspicious of all friends whoth divorced parents, because, lo! They might be committing residency fraud!!!
I personally know a friend from college with a step kid who has bounced between mcps and dcps. Parents have shared custody. No laws are being broken. Because she's cute and white, losers like you wouldn't think of reporting it. I hate this hell place. |

I think you should report OP. Maybe call someone in the schoo counseling, residency and international admissions can help. http://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/uploadedFiles/info/enroll/QuickGuideToEnrollment-English.pdf
Interesting case on MCBOE and someone filing to stay in county schools though they did not live in the county. http://archives.marylandpublicschools.org/NR/rdonlyres/6FEB3412-B305-4D15-BC26-D50A8FFDB320/12778/Opinion0710.pdf |
