I'm glad she liked it. I wouldn't have liked it. Moral: know your audience. |
If I may, How old are your children? Why do you feel girls shouldn't ask boys on dates? I have a daughter, and would advise her not to do the asking, but I can't explain why. Maybe you can articulate better than I. (Other girls should do whatever they want, and I'd probably "let" my daughter ask if she insisted.) And to OP -- thanks for sharing a very cute story! |
THIS is why it's great for a girl to do the asking. I'm sorry PP, but the promposal thing is out of control. Way too many teen princesses. |
If you can't explain why, maybe it's because you don't have a good reason? |
I think I just threw up. |
I was just talking to my son about prom and asked if there was anyone he'd like to ask. He said he was thinking about a couple of girls, but hadn't decided yet. I told him he doesn't have to ask anybody - lots of kids just go in groups and have a blast. This whole "asking" business puts so much pressure on boys, it's ridiculous. |
I don't know if this is true. My son has asked girls to dances that he's just been friends with. They go as a "couple" for the sake of pictures, etc., but they're really just friends. Most of the kids in his group do this. |
Duh. The Prom Psalms. |
Yes it does, please see below: 1 Corinthians 15:33 Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.” Ephesians 5:19 And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit, addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart 1 Corinthians 6:18-20 Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body. 1 Timothy 5:22 Do not be hasty in the laying on of hands, nor take part in the sins of others; keep yourself pure. |
I still don't see where is says a girl has to wait for a boy to ask her to Prom. |
1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 2 Timothy 2:22 Now flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. Proverbs 11:22 A beautiful woman who lacks discretion is like a gold ring in a pig’s snout. |
Again, show me the bible verse that says a girl shouldn't ask a boy to prom. |
Please see here : ) Proverbs 25:28 ESV A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls. We want our daughters to have self control and not feel that they have to "take the bull by the horns" Proverbs 21:19 ESV It is better to live in a desert land than with a quarrelsome and fretful woman. We want our daughters to be patient and not cause young men stress with prom-posals or feeling like they have to attend a dance with a daughter of ours because they have been asked. 1 Corinthians 13:4 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant |
DP. Nope, I don't see anything in there about who's asking whom to prom. |
