| I wonder how the waitlist will change this year. Without the opportunity for an application, and the ability to indicate which program students they prefer. It also appears all tested students were considered for both programs. |
They are not related. You can go ahead and turn in your registration at your home school. If you are offered a magnet admission then the home school registration is moot. We turned in our home school registration last week and got acceptance into Clemente/MLK only this week. |
This doesn't matter - you enroll at your home middle school regardless - you don't have to decide about the magnet until later - and then you withdraw from the home middle school. We did that with our first child. |
Just complete the course registration as if you are going to your home school, if you get into one of the magnets, then you can fill out the paperwork for that school. It's not like you put down a deposit on your public school registration and need to wait for a decision to make your choices. |
| Anyone check mail yet today? |
| I just got a WL letter. 99% in each of the four categories, and HGC. We probably weren't going to go anyway, but I have to say I'm surprised to be WL. Good job for the ones who get in! |
| My DD didn't get in. 99% in each of the four categories and all As in report card. |
| We just got a letter as well. 99 percentile and not recommended to either Eastern or Takoma. Not sure what the committee looked for. |
| My guess for the 99 per centers is that there is a strong peer group at the home school. I'm so sorry, that really doesn't seem fair given the lack of access to a comparably advanced curriculum at the home school. |
| 99%ter...not accepted |
| Are you 99 percent people from high performing schools like we ate assuming? |
|
98% and straight A grades
Agree, there is a strong peer group at his ES going to MS - so at least that is some compensation. Plus not having to get up at 6am for a 6.30am bus ugh. I'm so glad we don't have to do that... |
Yes, we are. |
| 99% of what? |
| Wow. For those reported with strong number including currently in HGC program, test scores 99% both verbal and quantitative, all As in 5th grade, we also faced similar rejection for Takoma and Eastern. Our kid is among the few who also has the same number. It looks like the new selection process of testing is not looking for gifted students but instead aims to diversify the program. This is too bad. |
