ehh in my experience employees do get in trouble for leaving early. If you stay late to work on projects, no overtime or comp time. |

I don't understand your post. I take calls from a variety of different time zones, at 7 pm for Australia and as early as 6 am for Europe. I could leave at 4 pm every day and not get into trouble, because I am an exempt professional. |

Uugh. We have a busy body like OP in our office. Always 'nickle and dime-ing' the time sheets. Thing is she's here from 7am - 5:30 every day 'with SO much to do!' But never seems to get it done - lots of gossiping and goofing off but 'butts in seats' mentality. The rest of us work hard to get our tasks done, and then go home. It's not about sitting in your chair until times up.
She is not well respected by colleagues or upper management. |
| Keep your eyes on your own paper, OP. |
| If the person is putting in the required amount of time why is there a problem unless the work is team oriented. |
| Is it that this person doesn't do their work? Then focus on that. Their hours are not your business unless you supervise them. And even then, I wouldn't make it an issue if they get their work done. |
for the assembly line workers |
Completely agree with this. If you are a peer, you will look TERRIBLE to your management if you let them know you are wasting time monitoring the comings and goings of peers when you should be working. Focus on the work results and the impact to you. If there are no such issues, it's not your business. Honestly, I would be pissed if I was your manager and found out you were monitoring another person's schedule to the point where you know exactly when they come in, when they take lunch and for exactly how long, and exactly when they leave for the day. That means you are wasting an incredible amount of time monitoring that person rather than working. Knock it off and do the work you're being paid to do. |
Yeah, someone once came to me and whined that Mr. X was leaving the office at 3 some days. I explained that Mr. X covers our clients in India and therefore came in the office at 6 some days. |
Funny thing, my teammates are never online at 9:30 PM when I'm on answering emails and finishing up the work of the day yet I don't feel the need to go complain to my boss about their work schedules or assume they aren't pulling their weight. It's almost like people work different schedules to manage their workload needs. So weird! |
| I have a coworker like this, and I wouldn't care at all except for the fact that he screws around the majority of the day (takes hour long lunch breaks, is gone from his desk more than he is there, is constantly texting and on Facebook). I'm not a tattletale but I can't wait till my boss notices. |
and, what mostly annoys me, is that he doesn't do his job. I get my 8 hour day done in 6 but you can bet my ass is in a seat for 8-9 hours. |

Only do this if you want to be branded an asshole forever by your manager.
This is among the worst things you can do. |
ugh OP, u should MYOB. This is so petty of you! |
