Daniel Tiger is a whiny brat!

We found DT annoying and our 2 year old wasn't that into it (her obsessions are Pooh, Mickey, and Elmo) so it wasn't a big deal to just not put it on.

This. For us, Caillou was the WORST.... But Caillou's voice was much worse and higher pitched. And he was so hideous. Daniel Tiger is much cuter.

Even before I gave birth all my parent friends warned me about caillou so I made it a point to never let my kid watch it (she is 5 now). The most useful parenting advice I ever got!

For all of those who hate it- try nature shows! DD is obsessed with nature shows on Netflix like Planet Earth. She loves all the animals.

Clothes on, eat bfast, brush teeth, put on shoes and offff toOo school.

And

Bath time, pjs, brush teeth, story and song, and offf toOo bed!

Has been sung in my house regularly for 5 years. 2 kids. Newborn kid doesn't know, but he'll sing it too!!

Cutest ever was 1yo (the 2nd child) suddenly knowing the whole nighttime song.

We often sing "You gotta try new foods 'cause it might taste goo-ood!"

All the time! And "sharing with you is fun for me too", "Mad mad mad it helps to say you're mad", "let's countdown to calm down"

I think he is whiny and insufferable and that Mr. Rogers would be mortified.
I banned Daniel Tiger!

I had to chime in because I understand exactly what OP is talking about. Also, there are a lot of very simple-minded, vapid, and easily satisfied parents in this thread who lack insight, depth, discernment, and critical thinking skills.

So, yes. There are problems with the Daniel Tiger show. While many aspects are helpful and enjoyable, there are certain behaviors Daniel exhibits that have no benefit to children and are harmful. Also, yes...he's a whiny/annoying character without question.

Pilot Daniel with Grandpere and Katarina: This episode is about jealousy. Daniel throws a tantrum because Katrina is sitting next to Grandpere as a passenger while he gets to be the pilot. He wants to have it both ways. He then repeatedly ignores Katarina's request to fly to the imaginary "Princess Castle" because he's incensed. Instead, show the children converse about sharing roles.

Train Engineer Daniel and Katarina: Daniel makes up his mind in advance that he'll be the train Engineer. When Katarina takes the role/costume he throws a fit. Sadly...she f*king APOLOGIZES, hands over the costume, and everyone is happy! What is that teaching little girls and boys? Instead show Daniel that he must be patient, allow her the chance to lead, and understand they can exchange roles.

There is tons of subtext in this show that requires intelligent parents to curate and decide it's right for their children.

In the "stop and listen to stay safe" song everyone disturbingly opens up their legs whenever they sing "stop"

P.S. dose that annoy anyone else?

Shut your mouth, OP.

X100.
My kids are now 8 and 9 and I still think about Daniel Tiger. Great lessons that resonated with my kids and me.

That never happened. Please point me in the direction of the Cardi B remix where they are spreading legs! It terrifies me that you think you saw this.

My husband thinks the show is hilarious - "why do the guys not wear pants, but the women do?" "Why is the king like, best friends with a guy working at the clock factory?" "Do they pay for the trolley?"

I think my 4 year old son has internalized this.

Newsflash op: your kid is also a whinny little brat. The show teaches lessons to all the whinny little brat kids out there.
