And

Bath time, pjs, brush teeth, story and song, and offf toOo bed!

Has been sung in my house regularly for 5 years. 2 kids. Newborn kid doesn't know, but he'll sing it too!!

Cutest ever was 1yo (the 2nd child) suddenly knowing the whole nighttime song.

Yes! But sometimes my kid will substitute school for 'Costco' or 'Wegmans'. Yes, I shop a lot...

I think "Prince Wednesday" is an amazing name. It's like what Michael Jackson & Prince would name their love child. The name is completely nonsensical in its fabulousness.

In Mister Rogers' world it's logical because the prince's dad's name was King Friday the Thirteenth.

My youngest are teens, so I'm spared having to watch any kids shows. We do watch Caillou sometimes to MST3K it, though. There's no bigger bundle of neuroses than Caillou.

Well, actually there are: the parents in this area who watch Caillou with their kids.

I'm reasonably confident Mr. R would heave been appalled by the President's conduct.

WHAT? Daniel Tiger is WONDERFUL. OP, if you don't like Daniel, then you are seriously screwed when it comes to all the other shows out there!!

DD is only 19 months, but I find DT overstimulating for me, let alone her. We DO watch Mr. Rogers, Sesame Street, and Fraggles. I kind of want to start putting the DT songs into the Youtube rotation though, now that you're all singing their praises.

And I am from Pittsburgh. I swear, Mr. Rogers is a personal hero of every child from there. As he well should be, because he was amazing. Every single child has a story of how they met Mr. R, or saw him, or their BFF/sibling met him.

Really? I find Sesame Street incredibly stimulating and fragmented. DT is much slower paced IMO.

We've used the songs quite a bit especially when she get s into a tantrum "if you're feeling mad and you want to roar, take a deep breath and count to four... 1,2,3,4"

Ohhh, I forgot about that song! We use "Give a squeeze, nice and slow, take a deep breath....and let it go" when my DC is having a fit.

That's false. Every single child couldn't possibly have such a story.

I have no reason to lie about this, they do or tell the story of their sibling/friend/next door neighbor/etc. I, for example, saw him at the Pittsburgh Children's Museum and he walked around and greeted the kids after the performance or whatever he did. This was in the 90's so he was older, but still active in the community. He was very active in the community, so it wasn't hard to see him live if you spent your entire childhood in Pittsburgh.

To the other poster, I find the new Sesame Street overstimulating and disjointed too. Abby Cadabby is the absolute worst, though I like Rosita and Elmo of course is DD's favorite. (Thank you Elmo for your toothbrush song. Thank you a million times over.)

We often sing "You gotta try new foods 'cause it might taste goo-ood!"

My husband thinks the show is hilarious - "why do the guys not wear pants, but the women do?" "Why is the king like, best friends with a guy working at the clock factory?" "Do they pay for the trolley?"

Yes, why don't Daniel Tiger or his dad wear pants? That bothers me a lot, especially in the episode where he is learning to use the bathroom.
And I now have that song in my head, "If you have to go potty, stop and go right away, flush and wash and be on your way!"

I didn't mind that they don't wear pants until I saw that they do wear pajama pants. Why one and not the other?

I made the mistake of letting my 2yo watch Daniel Tiger and now it's all she wants to watch (previously she was into Elmo/Sesame Street and Curious George). Does anyone else find him insufferable? He is constantly whining and having tantrums. I understand the idea of the show is to teach lessons so he has to be doing something wrong or having trouble in order of the show to have a lesson to teach but gosh he's annoying.

I thought the EXACT same thing!

I used work at pbs. I hate that show.the older kids shows are much better— Martha, Arthur, Odd Squad and word girl.

Keep in mind the show is written for young children so that is why it appeals to them. It will be such a short time when you think about it. Just relax and ignore or go along and try to enjoy!

I found DT the exact same at first- almost like he was teaching the bad behavior. I think this was around like 18-20 months when we were trying to get DD to watch SOMETHING besides Sesame Street (just got old, but now of course I miss it). But now that she's a little older and exhibiting the bad behavior naturally-sigh, I like it A LOT more and agree that it's a lot less offensive than other options. And yes, the songs are helpful too. If you have an Alexa, she'll play them all for you! (DD is very good at asking Alexa to play music for her- haha)
