Why are Virginia drivers so bad?

I flashed my lights for them to move over (not wanting to do so myself, pass them on the right and encourage their bad driving), which they did, surprisingly. So what do they do when I pass? Move right back into the left lane.

You can't fix stupid.

You didn't just go around? Lazy and pathetic. I doubt you would have even been capable.

Good for them for being courteous to move unlike your antisocial behavior and then resuming what they had been doing.

You're a bad driver.

^^ example of an idiot VA/MD driver who doesn't understand universal road etiquette (stay right, pass left; flash lights to remind people to get over - it's nothing personal).

^^example of an idiot entitled VA driver who would rather get into a p***ing match and stew over a driver who's minding their business because they cannot drive correctly. Like most VA drivers

"Minding their business"??? No - they need to pay attention to the road and follow the very basic rules of the road. It's no time for day dreaming. If that's too difficult for you then consider public transportation.

Newsflash homie, since perhaps you have been living in a redneck bubble your whole life: plenty of states don't have laws that you have to move over to leave a clear left lane after passing. PLENTY of them. So plenty of people, in those states, use the left lane as a general "I'm going much faster than the general speed limit so I'll stay here".

You don't have to like it. I don't like how boneheaded VA drivers operate. But I don't come up flashing my lights behind you guys every time I see you, say, going UNDER the speed limit in the left lane, or tailgating someone else, etc. I go around. It's what adults do. You should try it sometime.

I'm not from VA. I have lived most of my adult life in NY and CA. I've also driven in several countries overseas. The very basic rule of the road is to stay right and pass on the left. It's universal. Sorry you are so limited in your experiences to not know that.

VA and MD drivers are hanging out in the left lane like they have no clue. I usually go around myself because they are slow as F to move over, but I was pointing out that PP was flashing his lights appropriately. Don't take it personally, granny. Just get out of the f*cking left lane.

Hey, loser. The fact that you are from California alone essentially nullifies your vote. Looking at the states most consider to be "worst drivers", California takes the damn cake- there's almost a complete consensus on the west coast that you all are horrible drivers.

Even still, you fail to understand that NOT EVERY STATE HAS LEFT LANE IS FOR PASSING ONLY laws. I observe it because I've driven extensively in states that hav e those laws. I'm also not psychotic enough to spend my time tailgating or flashing my lights at people who don't- go the hell around! If that's a hardship for you- don't drive! Got it, gramps?

Whatever, granny. Just get out of the left lane.

Great comeback, gramps. I usually drive in the right lanes, but I think I'm gonna have to merge on over to the left lane now and park it there. Just because all you charmers react so sanely to it

Don't take it all so personally, Mr Road Rage. Just stay out of the left lane or better yet take the bus.

Awwww. Someone needs a snickers. I'll just continue coasting, right here in the left lane. Thanks for giving me the idea!

The cops are always out in force in Virginia (they need that state revenue) hence the drivers always creeping along at barely the speed limit. They have a perennial fear of going anything other than the exact speed posted on the signs- flow of traffic be damned.

Md could be the most awful state to live in maybe ever. Taxes are huge and infrastructure awful. Ever notice how bad the roads are with pot holes not to mention zero car inspection so cars held together with band aids basically all over the road. Drivers do not care about their cars and it reflects in their driving

Nope, never mentioned zero of these things. In fact fairly certain they don't exist.

Perhaps you're thinking of Hicktown, VA? I've heard it's lovely this time of year.

Not PP, but sometimes message board posts are not finely-tuned pieces of literature.

Not the other PP but usually they qualify as basic English.

This has to be the prize winner of the most inane and ridiculous on it's face excuse I've ever heard.

Not to mention it's kind of insulting to VA, also?

I'll disagree.
My daughter just had drivers education in MD. Her teacher was a woman that moved here from Africa and the woman told the students that the left lane is not for faster drivers. They also cannot turn the wheel hand over hand- they must "scoot" the wheel to pass the test. There were so many things this lady didn't know about--like the express lanes in VA.
I live in Silver Spring and drive to Baltimore daily for work. These Maryland drivers are slow (I'm from the Midwest) I admit I speed.

Actually, the left lane is NOT for fast drivers. It's to pass.
You think the express lanes are to drive fast?
The instructor knows lot more than you do, it seems.

Perhaps Marylanders, as denizens of the most educated state in the country, have higher standards for discourse than the down trodden Virginians. Poor things.
