Then he probably wasn't worth keeping as a friend in the first place. |
Well, that wasn't the game plan I thought you were going with. Everyone views phone sex differently but that isn't something I'd partake in with someone I was planning to tell "I'm interested in a relationship but not while you are involved with someone else." regardless of him getting the wrong idea or not, I don't blame you for viewing him differently and wanting to move on. Sorry it didn't work, I was rooting for you. Thanks for taking the time to come back and update. |
+1. Let's keep it simple, if you are interested in a relationship, which you said you were, just scratching an itch when he has a girlfriend is not the right move. You are playing a mind game with yourself trying to justify your actions. You needed to be direct and upfront prior to talking about a date. If he is serious enough to keep dating the current woman and not willing to let his "I'm not sure where it is going" relationship go for the "been flirty for 20 years, close friend, now she is available and willing to date me", then you have your answer. It's like Julia Robert's "My Best Friend Wedding". She's convinced they would have been together if only the timing had been right but the truth was really that she wasn't the right match for him or the time would have been right. He's chasing the fiancée, Julia Roberts is chasing the best guy friend and the line is "But who is chasing you". If there is a Julia Robert's movie that covers every relationship issue, this is the one when you try to convince yourself it is just bad timing. |
OP here and I agree with you 100%. I was being playful and it went left. I decided that I will NOT be using him to scratch my itch And when we meet face to face I will have an honest direct 1-1 with him. |
