This made me laugh.
"Holding foam fingers with “KKK” and “Go Jeffie Boy” written on the hands, protestors dressed in white robes interrupted the confirmation hearing of Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions, the president-elect’s choice for attorney general, just as it began on Tuesday. ... white men cloaked in white robes yelled, “You can’t arrest me! I’m white!” with Capitol police escorted them out." |
| Al Franken's up! |
Ha! I love protesters with a sense of humor. |
Who let them in? |
I am an immigrant, and know first-hand plenty of undocumented immigrants. President Obama was a disaster for us. I am waiting to see what happens with President Trump...but, frankly, what I watched Sessions say today is no worse than we have actually HAD for the last 8 years under Deporter-in-Chief. |

Here goes Franken calling him out for saying he was personally involved in the Civil Rights cases the other lawyers say he was NOT involved with.
Getcha popcorn out |
|
"Are they distorting your record here?"
"Yes. Mr Hebert spent a good bit of time in my office. He said I supported him in all the cases he brought, more supportive than almost any other US Attorney." |
|
"So that's your personal involvement- that your name was on a complaint?"
"You can dispute the import of a questionnaire. Attorney Generals claim credit for cases in the Dept of Justice, so there's nothing wrong with me claiming credit for those my name is on the docking sheet." |
| Franken says your name on a filing document doesn't mean you're personally involved in cases- claims "Hebert says he litigated personally 2 of the 4 cases Sessions listed and says absolutely Sessions did not participate in either. He had no input to the case. These represent 3 of the 4 cases you claim were the top 10 you personally handled." |
| That's true, the bosses name is on the filing with the actual working lawyer but s/he's never involved in the case. |
| Sessions is really struggling to adequately explain this one away |
Yeah but i guess the issue here is Sessions is claiming his name ON the filing DOES mean he was personally involved with these cases. Oh, here's Sessions with "this was 30 years ago... my memory was support for those cases" |
| LUNCH BREAK TIL 239 |
| No, Jeff Flake goes first. |
| Nope, Flake scoots in and everyone's gotta wait another 15 to eat |
