Netanyahu can complain all he wants about Obama, but he is still accepting the $3.7 billion a year in military aid and advocating for $5 billion a year from U.S. taxpayers. A UN vote is a minor thing though Netanyahu is using it to stir up his base and this sense that Israelis continue to be victims.

But you know, the prison guard is as much a prisoner as the prisoner. No Gandhi coming from either side.

THIS. it makes me so angry. who the hell is he to chastise and lecture the US, but hold his hand out and cash our checks?

Try to relax.

I have always wondered why American Jews care so much about Israel and put its interests ahead of the US's. Unless you are Israeli, America should be your primary concern.

it's literally the only group that does this.

Blacks don't put random african countries aims and goals ahead of the us.

japanese americans certainly don't.

chinese americans don't.

A VERY small subgroup of indian americans do (usually much older and came in the 65-80's wave but it is a tiny group.

european-americans (italian-americans, polish-americans, irish-americans, etc) don't.

I challenge jewish americans to name me another ethnicity that acts this way with the same frequency and magnitude that jews do.

Are you antisemitic? I challenge you to self reflect.

typical aipac/adl response. the moment anything questioning anything about jewish behavior is brought up, the deflection begins.

I'm not anti-semitic. I'm curious why certain groups show more affinity to foreign countries than other groups. Are you telling me it is equal across the board?

Wow, I am uncertain where to start.

First of all, I am an American Jew. Meaning, American first, Jewish second.

I am very active in the Jewish community here and the vast majority of people in my orbit are the same. As such, America comes first, not Israel.

Many (but not all) Jews DO have an interest in the existence and security of Israel. Why? Because we as a group have been persecuted for thousands of years. Literally. Half of our population was wiped off of the map by the Nazis. If history teaches us anything, it is that we are doomed to repeat. Thus, if Jews are persecuted yet again, we have a place to go where it is safe to exist as a Jew.

All of my Jewish friends want the settlements to stop and for there to be a 2-state solution.

Hope that clears up some of the gross misconceptions that were presented in the PPs.

and that's fine for many jews to believe that about Israel - but then on the flip side, it is only right then for the community to be viewed as one that has stronger ties to a foreign state than other ethnic groups have to their ancesteral 'home lands'. I'm talking about a matter of magnitude.

You can't have one or the other.

No. I was addressing the PPs claim that American Jews put Israel's interest before the U.S. That is just not true for many of us, give that we are not a monolith.
