The fact that *you* found her post inappropriate doesn't make it so. Just makes you a pearl-clutcher, among other things. |
not either PP but . . . You don't have to call someone a slut to slut shame someone. The disparaging comments on this thread are indeed in reference to her outfit. Whether it's a nightgown or a negligee or some "house dress," there's no need to call her out on it. It's hard to undo stupid, eh, PP? |
But why not? She represents America as First Lady-by-default and conservatives sure had a field day with Michelle in her lovely official portrait. You want hypocrisy, there it is. |
|
The more people talk about this the more I'm wondering what's up with these two stunts pulled by Ivanka recently. She's a savvy businesswoman and hyper vigilant about her image.
This is not in line with that image but nothing with her is a mistake. Whatever it is, it's not coming off very well. |
I love it! This isn't about women's roles and society and how we're belittled on a daily basis; it's about a battle between Conservatives and Liberals. I didn't vote for either candidate this time around, as neither appealed to me. However, while Hillary wasn't my first choice as a Democratic candidate, I defended her. I may not have liked her classic pantsuit style, but it was HER style. And underneath that suit was an intellectual. I'll do the same for Ivanka. I didn't vote for her father, but this woman has done nothing wrong. Yet Libs are up in arms simply bc she's Trump's daughter- and now b/c she's wearing a somewhat revealing outfit. And by your tone, PP, I am fairly confident that you're playing the same game - that it's OK to slam Ivanka b/c poor Michelle was scrutinized for baring her arms. So . . . you're no better! |
|
Stop acting like we are criticizing her outfit. She's not wearing an outfit. She's wearing a freaking black silk negligee. It's not a dress. It's meant to be an alluring nightie.
Stop normalizing this bizarre behavior. You have never seen a friend or relative or even a celebrity (aside from a Kardashian) post a family picture in a black silk negligee. It's weird. It's not appropriate for social media. |
And Beyonce is a great role model for the Obama girls. I think we know who the true hypocrites are.
|
“Alluring nightie?” Hardly. This is more revealing than Ivanka’s picture.
|
Classic conservative craziness: shifting gears and trying to launch an argument by going off on a tangent. Beyoncé is a celebrity. She is not an elected official. She is not part of the President's family. She is not a role model for anyone. The Obama girls are far younger than Ivanka. Ivanka is an old married lady FFS...a mother of three. The Obama girls are teenagers. Nobody in the Obama family would post a picture in a black silk negligee. It's indefensible, and you know it. If you think it's so normal, then why not post a selfie in your own black silk negligee on FB? Be sure to use #negligeepride. Maybe you'll start a trend? |
I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that you've never owned a $200+ silk negligee, so you don't know what you're talking about. |
You nailed it, PP! It is basically a continuation of the battle between liberals and conservatives. I am also a liberal who did not vote for either candidate for much the same reasons that you cited. Trump was certainly not my choice for multiple reasons but the personal criticism of the Trump family is just ludicrous. I have no doubt that if Hillary had won and Chelsea had been dressed the way that Ivanka did, liberals would be singing a different tune altogether - and conservatives would have been leveling the same criticisms that liberals are directing at Ivanka. I wish we would just focus on aspects of his policy that we don't agree with including appointments that he has made and what they would mean for the country. I don't care how Ivanka dresses. She comes across as an accomplished woman and I hope that she will be a positive influence on her father especially on women's issues. |
|
This has nothing to do with Ivanka's political leanings.
She's wearing a freaking black silk negligee and posted it publicly!!! Who does that? Nobody. |
I called her trash. I called her trash based solely on who she is and who she supports. The tacky dress? Just more evidence of Trump thirst. |
|
It's not a dress, pp.
It's a black silk nightgown. |
| So embarrassing that they represent us. |
