How long do you stay in bed checking your phone each morning?

I feel like I am addicted to the internet and to using a cell phone. It's bad. I always read reddit, dcum, nytimes, wapo, all these sites. I guess I am well informed, but it definitely affects my work performance, concentration, and even interactions with others. I truly hope my child doesn't pick up this habit, but with the way the world is and online culture becoming so prevalent, who knows. It's too easy to get sucked into reading who the latest Trump appointee is, or how your index fund portfolio is doing, or searching for the perfect Grateful Dead show.

Use the alarm function - I dont want an alarm clock on my bedsie table for several reasons - and we dont have a working wireline phone upstairs so in case of emergency I need quick access to a phone..

10 seconds or less to check the weather. Another minute or two to check the school lunch website if I forgot to print the lunch menu that month. Then I have to haul my butt out of bed and get ready.

Because it's my alarm. Thanks for judging

Get a proper alarm clock.

I use the phone's alarm, but I don't usually check the phone otherwise when I wake up.

Lately, though, I do lie in bed for at least an hour trying to get into a positive frame of mind so I can deal with grief and depressing life issues in addition to excruciating pain and stiffness.

Usually zero. I am one of those people that hits the snooze button repeatedly so usually by the time I am up I am in a rush to get out the door. I also prefer to turn the morning news on for info because it wakes me up more than looking at my phone.

None on weekdays. I have, you know, a job.

0. It is not healthy to have a cell phone in the bedroom.

Zero minutes. I have no time to stay in bed. On the rare occasion that I do, I am sleeping.

You say this likes it's a criticism. I also use an alarm clock.

You know it's not good for you to sleep with your phone right next to you, right?

Yes. I wake up at 5 to have alone time and drink coffee. I waste about 30 minutes on my phone before they wake up. Same at night after they go to bed like right now.

To the posters that don't sleep with the phone nearby. Do you have a landline? Our parents are getting older. If something happens in the night we need to be reached. We actually have a landline but we don't have that phone in the bedroom. Our cells are always on and near us in case of emergencies.
