My realtor didn't give a housewarming gift after closing.

Mine gave us a bottle of champagne which was a nice touch. And later sent a gift for our newborn.

What kind of bratty adult expects an adult professional to buy them a gift after a business transaction?

This whole thing perpetuates sexism.

When we SOLD our house our realtor gave us a small gift-- an ink and water color of our old house. Nice touch!

Twice a month my realtor sends his teenaged son to our house to odd jobs, like pulling weeds, mulching, painting, and splitting wood. I like this a lot more than soms trinket. We only get him for a few more months, though.

I sold my former house with Redfin and recently bought my current home with them. I didn’t get any gifts. I got a hug though.

We got champagne from the closing company and a $250 gift card to a furniture place from our agent (who sells a particular type of style so it was a match). They were both very nice!

So annoying when people assume that everyone drinks. Alcohol is not a great gift at all in any business realm. Work gifts either- you don't if someone can't drink, doesn't drink, is in recovery, has health issues. Just a crappy, lazy gift IMO.

I can't speak for all agents but I always get my clients a gift for closing and a nice one, not a $100 gift card. One of my clients purchased a home where she found out there was a pedophile living in the neighborhood and I gave her $1k towards a sophisticated security system. I have given clients cash towards fixing issues in their homes. Home warranties for $650. Typically spend between $500-1000. I think it is in bad taste not to do so.

We went with another agent though who we thought did a very good job on an unusual and difficult negotiation. It's was a 2.4 mil sale and we did not get a present but I didn't expect one.

That may be our agent! We had no clue she did this when we signed her. We bought 13 years ago and get an invite every year. We don't go every year; but we go when we can. It's a lot of fun!

Ours not only did not give a gift. But lost the keys to the house by the time we got to settlement and we had to get the locks changed at our expense.

Lol this is annoying but you would have paid to have the locks changed immediately anyway, I assume?

Our realtor paid to have the home deep-cleaned before we moved in and also gave some small items (e.g., picture frame). She also sent us treats the following holiday season.

Agent here. I hope you are not talking about me. I was waiting until the end of the seller's rent back period to bring the house warming present to the final walk through. I promise you'll like it because I subtly probed and you told me what you wanted.

Mine gave a small cutting board. It was fine, I would have been ok with no gift. Our neighbor's realtor sent them a small charcuterie board, which they shared with us. I would have appreciated something like that, but the realtor gift is NBD to me.

Since the OP was from 2016 the rent back period would have expired by now so it's probably not all about you.
