I don't think anyone on this thread has said their children have strong feelings about it. I do remember that, as a kid, I myself recited each day without anyone ever providing more meaning. Then again, I was in Texas, so history centered on the state.

I prefer my children not say it. They know why and they agree

Poster 15:30 does. Of course your small children agree with your brainwashing. They don't know anything else.

What is the point of the poa, other than brainwashing?

What is wrong with you?

NP here, but my guess would be that they want their children to have a secular education, which is the right of all citizens, according to the First Amendment.

What are you prattling on about? Secular education? WTF?

It means an education that is free from discussion of religion and God.

What does saying the Pledge of Allegiance have to do with discussing religion or God in the classroom? They're mutually exclusive things.

Don't you DARE say this is about the phrase "Under God" in the Pledge. That would just make you an blathering idiot. Skip that part if you prefer.

In God we Trust is on our money. Do you not use cash?

Yes--both 2nd and 1st grader know it. They do it in school since K. I am a huge fan of the pledge and them doing it.

It makes me sad that we've become so PC.

You need the pledge for this?

Same here. It's empty words.

I'm not religious in the slightest and my child knows the pledge and I have zero issues with him saying "one nation under God." If he ever has an issues with it he can remain quiet on that part.

Not everyone who's kids don't know it has vehement feelings about it. I am the Hillary voter above whose child doesn't know it. I'm not opposed to her learning it, but I don't think that those words are in and of themselves important. I am glad that time is not taken from the classroom daily to repeat them (or any other words).

Yep...

Can't even remember the last time I had to recite it out side of school

Yes. We're atheists and my children also know the lords prayer. And The Raven, and The Owl and the Pussycat.

Pretty much

Idk why some people like to toss around that they or their kids know it by heart...it won't get you anywhere in the U.S.... or help you make more money.... or find a better spouse. Might as well recite some movie quotes to me while your at it, I'll probably find that more interesting.

MCPS school recites it every morning. I assumed it was standard still? I went to FCPS and recited it every morning. The kids mumble and repeat the words, but I am doubtful many of them are actually feeling the pride of flag and country when they say it.

Of course, OP. All school kids should know it.

This is why so many of us can't wait to Make America Great Again.
