Child is learning in pre-k and my friend told me her 3rd grader doesn't know it. So just curious if it's still being taught in most schools?
My third grader does not. I'm fine with that.
My 1st grader does not nor do I want her to
2nd grader and I don't think she knows that the pledge is. Never thought to teach her.
Lol no this is an old school thing
My 8th grader doesn't even know it. Public elementary and public charter middle.
4th grade - yes, she does. And I prefer it that way.
Yes. Learned in preschool. They say it in K.
6th grader doesn't know it, hell my high schooler might not
I prefer my children not say it. They know why and they agree
I'm pretty sure our DCPS says it every day, so I assume my kids know it. Plus one is a cub scout, so he knows it for sure.
My child is 8 and just now heard it and said "why are we talking to a flag?" And I agree with her. Stupid to waste instructional time with this.
|
I'm not especially patriotic or in favor of the part that was added to the pledge for repetition public schoolers, but I do want my children to know it and the history.
So i get why you don't want your kids to say it, but I'm curious why people would not want their child to know it at all. |
Our preschool taught it to the 2 year olds. My girls say it daily in public elementary school.
I'm shocked so many parents say their kids don't know it. Both my kids learned it in preschool.
