From NBC4's Instagram Page:

We have an update to share with you about our collogue Leon Harris.

Last week, Leon appeared unwell while anchoring News4 at 6.

Leon will be stepping away from the anchor desk to focus on health issues.

We here at NBC4 - and you at home - care deeply about Leon and wish him well.

We thank you for your concern.

Still sounds like he was drunk on air, IMO.

Yes- that's the health issue. Sad. I lost my mom to addiction, I hope he can get help.

Relapses are so common during the holiday season because there are so many social engagements we feel obligated to attend and they all involve alcohol.

Also, years 1 & 2 of sobriety are the most difficult and when the most relapses happen.

I hope he's getting the help he needs and I'm happy to hear NBC4 is standing behind him.

It's so hard to watch someone you know and love go through alcoholism.

So he's a repeat drunk driver? F that, put him behind bars.

He was CAUGHT twice, meaning he likely drove drunk hundreds of times.

I have nothing but hate in my heart for drunk drivers. Such needless arrogance and selfishness.

+1 He's a really nice man! I was shocked when he was involved in the drunk driving accident and even more shocked that he left the scene. It's hard to forgive that kind of behavior.

I bet they do not stand behind him this go around. Being intoxicated on air is a good way to get black listed.

I don't know anything about addiction but it's really wild that he could think he could perform a job that requires reading and being "on" in the state he was in. I only saw the reddit clip but he was really in bad shape. I can't believe he was even allowed to take the air. Someone had to have noticed before they started airing.

It's really sad - he's been given LOTS of chances. I'm all for giving someone a second chance, but this is like the 3rd or 4th - and at least one of those previous mess ups was a DUI (maybe 2 of them?). That's not ok. And then to go on the air, after your employer has stood by you during all the other mishaps, in that condition? That's just awful.

It’s really sad. I’m involved in 2 charities that he has donated tons of time to. He’s a genuinely nice person and has gone above and beyond to help for both charities. I hope he gets the help he needs and that people can be forgiving.

He didn’t do anything illegal this time. Let’s keep our heads on folks.
