| This thread rolls around every now and then and then it devolves into a fight between the cleans and the dirties. So many factors are at play: whether your kid has dry or oily skin, whether they play sports or not, whether they make mudpies, what kind of soap you use, whether they are naturally sweaty or not, how old they are, how tired you are, how much you have going on, what time of day they bathe, whether your kid has a skin ailment, whether your kids are old enough to bathe themselves, whether your kid is afraid of water. This whole thread is pointless. |
PP, everything the poster said is true. They just removed antibacterial soaps for this reason. And if anyone is nuts, you are for changing pillowcases daily. I guess you don't allow stuffed animals and wash all blankets daily too. Scrub down the electronics, steering wheels, cabinet knobs, door handles, and light switches too. They are all a heck of a lot dirtier than your pillowcase. |

I'm a teacher and I will tell you that your kids stink! The dirt under their nails, the greasy hair, it all stinks! Even your "girls" who don't sweat, stink.
Please bathe your kids daily. |

Another vote for every other day, but if they went to the pool or got muddy/dirty from a sport I'll wash again that day.
For the every day posters who are shocked by the rest of us, you know you can wash just their face and private parts with a wash cloth every day if you want - you don't need to wash their whole body. |
This is where we are now with our second grader. And summer/heat = more frequent. |
Really so now we are cutting corners on bathing? Are you anti-bathing parents aware that even parents in developing nations bath their children daily! Please wash your kids daily and stop using the dry skin excuse. We have too many options for lotions and body oils you can even make your own natural body lotion. I do feel bad for your kids teachers. For those who skip out on showers where are you from? |
+1 My kids also have dry skin/eczema issues, so we bathe every other day (unless of course they've gotten extremely dirty and obviously need a bath). I usually only wash my daughter's long hair (she's 6) twice a week. |
| Y'all are nasty. Even with five kids, I managed to get everyone showered or bathed every day. There is no excuse for being dirty. And if your kids aren't bathing daily, they are dirty. |

I feel like these moms who give their kids daily baths probably just do really quick ones and not throughly was their child's body and hair. It's more like a quick soap down and rinse off.
I personally bath my children every other day and give them a deep, thorough cleaning when I do! |

Yes. They have since they were a few weeks old.
They are boys. 8.5 and 11 and they like that time at night. My boys are also extremely athletic and it would be gross for them not to shower/bath nightly after 90 min practices and germs at school. DH and I shower before bed too. I hate the thought of climbing into bed dirty. Also, the allergens and pollution---good to rinse all of that off before bed. I find it weird that people (even kids) don't bathe daily. |
Btw, my 8-year old was playing in a hot and sweaty 70 minute soccer game Sunday evening and I heard the two moms next to me saying there would be no bath tonight. I was so skeeved out by that. The boys were also playing on turf--and sweaty. Yuck. Just yuck. |
Nope. Work full time out of the house, three little kids, everyone gets a proper bath or shower daily. It's part of their night time routine. It's really no big deal and I love reading books to my clean, sweet smelling children in their nice clean beds. |
I find you weird and very uptight type A personality. I guarantee there is no other mom on your kid's soccer team like you and you already heard a few other moms not giving their kids baths. You are the abnormal one. |

I think I'll take skin care advice from my kids' pediatrician rather than a germaphobe on the internet. My kids bathed every-other-day throughout their childhood - as advised by their pediatrician - although more frequent during summers. And now that they are in middle school they shower daily.
