We are not DCPS so I have a question about this. Most school systems allow administrators, principals, teachers, etc. to apply for their children to attend school within the school system in which they work. DCPS doesn't allow this?

No it doesn't.

She likely facilitated the fraud (for friends/family???). I seriously doubt she could pull off pretending to live in one area while having her children in the school.

Funny how DCPS will turn a blind eye to teacher grievances about her for YEARS, but the second she commits residency fraud, it's a wrap.

It's clear the system doesn't value it's teachers, which is why they flee for surrounding areas after an average of 2 years in.

DCPS cares more about money (how dare she allow those people to send their children to DCPS without paying the out of bounds fee) than its teachers.

We're talking about Leckie, not some sought after NW school. How many people are really clamoring to get into Leckie and how many of those people did the principal lend a helping hand to? It sounds pretty incredible to me.

My point is, I doubt that she got fired because a couple of people got into the school. There has to be more to this story. And I know of other principals at other schools that have done the same and have not gotten fired.

What were some of the concerns by teachers at Leckie? Teachers, please chime in. There has to be more to this story.

You've got a point.

The teacher I spoke to said that she was tolerable and had improved over the time she had been there. She wouldn't speak negatively about her. This was over the summer. I think she probably just targeted certain people (I am not a Leckie teacher so this part is purely speculation.)

Or maybe she didn't target anyone and your friend wouldn't speak badly about her because she was a decent principal.

Why is there so much interest in digging for dirt and speculating? She has lost her career in DCPS. Isn't that enough? Leave her alone.

According to her linkedin page she has a consulting firm now: https://www.linkedin.com/in/atasha-m-james-70045555
But none of the links on the website http://jamesandassociates.org/ work.

They did post this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z5HE7-Fjzh8

Looking at the video, I am wondering whether DCPS licensed the use of the footage in it. If not, that could be a problem: DCPS may own the footage or restrict its use, and the media release forms parents signed may not allow for this sort of use.
