| Another Powell parent here. Not surprised by the stories of her past leadership roles. She wasn't impressive at Powell, and always came across in a snarky fashion. Given who Powell got for a Principal, and the fact Ms. Wilson got another Principal role, I would say the principal pipeline in DCPS is pretty dry. |

Well it's a shame Principal James was so nasty to her teachers because they seem to be a good lot. Not one has come on here and bad mouthed her. I can't think of any other principal whose name came up on dcurbanmom who wasn't eviscerated by those who've worked with them.
So maybe she WAS a poster child? Or maybe her teachers were a great lot who take the high road? |

Terminations never require a nondisclosure for the employee. Of course, employees don't care to blab about why they were fired-especially if they did nothing wrong. And the teachers would not be under a gag order either. Just discovered the school is in south DC. That explains a lot. Nobody gives a damn about what happens to the kids over there. The new Wilson principal on the other hand had several multi-page threads before she even boarded her plane from Colorado. It's no wonder James was able to get away with screwing others over for so long. I'll bet she became careless and drunk with her own power and slipped up and stole from the kids--LOTS of $. That's the only thing that would make DCPS get rid of a horrible bully leader. |

Niyeka Wilson was a great leader and AP at Powell ES and was never FIRED from Charter schools. It does not surprise me that a few Powell Parents disagree. Many parents don't get to know administration as they should. For those Powell Parents who disagree, it wouldn't surprise me if on many occasions you smiled in her face as hypocrites. If you don't like DCPS and their hard working administration GET THE HELL OUT AND GO TO A PRIVATE SCHOOL. Many parents feel privileged to be at a Title I school, NEWSFLASH don't come into a title I school and expect it to be TOP NOTCH! DCPS (POWELL) is trying their best and I AS A POWELL PARENT am very appreciative of it! Again, don't like it or administration GOODBYE! I hate people who speak wrongly about others without actually knowing the person!
