Olympics behavior

Gabby is a sore loser. Laurie H was adorably supportive. That's sportsmanship.

Absolutely right.

Here's some anecdotal evidence on national anthem behavior from observations at a lot of basketball games:

Everyone stands up. (unless you're in a wheelchair).

People stop walking to their seats.

People stop eating.

It's about 50/50 for hands over heart vs arms at side.

Every man in the audience removes their hat. Even the little boys. (It's kind of cute when a parent nudges their kid to take off their hat.) I don't see a lot of women with hats, so can't say about them.

The colorguard or rifle corps men and women keep their uniform hats on. But, that might be because they're busy holding the flag.

No, absolutely not. Everyone man does not remove their hats. Heck, there are so many men who refused to remove their hats in restaurants, especially those balding. It's a pity, but men just don't remove those damn baseball caps anymore.

YEs. Focus ladies. Focus.

I can't help but believe she has more ire for Gabby than Hope because gymnastics is seen as an unacceptably girly sport on dcum and soccer is not.

This is inexplicable anger toward Gabby Douglas is pretty obvious. Sorry the black girl didn't act exactly how you wanted her to. I know, I know, forthcoming will be the bitter protest that this has nothing to do with race, but it does, and it's sad. Someone above thread asked what she has done to forfeit our benefit of the doubt...she' black. That's why she has "attitude." Racial microagression at its finest.

Gabby Douglas has been widely criticized for her podium behavior: http://variety.com/2016/tv/news/gabby-douglas-national-anthem-gold-medal-ceremony-1201834709/

Didn't you mean to type "that stupid black girl was criticized for her podium behavior. Why does she hate America?"

Lol of course. Always the defense, "it's because she's black." It has nothing to do with that. hope Solo was despicable as well for her disgusting post game interview.

Simone, a gorgeous and talented black girl, was a phenomenal competitor and made me very proud. She had a great attitude the whole time, as did Aly, and seems extremely supportive of Gabby.

If gabby was white and acted the same was as she did, I'd say the same thing.

But isn't the hair criticism, this time and last, coming from black women?

Nope. Next you're going to say that it's the Black women who have been criticizing her nose and suggesting she undergo surgery to reshape her nose to something more European looking

Keep telling yourself that. You are inventing reasons to resent her basically out of whole cloth. Just because you didn't criticize the other black girl doesn't mean the criticism of Gabby's "attitude" isn't racially motivated. I understand you refuse to see that. A white girl can be contemplative, overwhelmed, serious, stoic (as I heard the commentators describe the Russian's pissed off expression), or even just tired. Gabby is just "bitter" and "giving attitude." Google "black women" and "common stereotypes" and learn to recognize your latent racial bias.

I was literally SOOOOOOOOOOOO unoffended by Phelps laughing during the anthem. He was still singing and happy and soaking in the moment. You try swimming your asscheeks off and winning a gold medal... the adrenaline and energy and emotions are like nothing we'll ever experience.

Meanwhile, Gabby looked disinterested, bored, salty, and all around unhappy to even be there the whole time. Seems so ungrateful to me.

What does she owe you?
She owes the American people a good attitude and not embarrassing us
Damn, you're easily embarrassed. Maybe you're the problem and not her. Have you personally contributed anything to her success, a quarter, a dollar, maybe ten-dollars? You're probably one of her haters in 2012 who criticized her hair, or offered opinions on whether she should undergo rhinoplasty. She doesn't owe you crap. And her attitude is fine. Your attitud PP, not so fine!
This...she didn't embarrass me.

+100
I don't see race. At all. I see an incredibly talented athlete having a tantrum in front of the world while wearing "USA" on her chest.
