First hand accounts? Well my SIL ex-husband's BIL on his mother's side said she met her first grade teacher at the grocery store in Ohio and said that she was really nice. So I'll go with that description.

I never put my hand over my heart and iWork on amilitary base. Most civilians, unless prior service do not heart Palm. Those in uniform salute., and prior service. But at 0800 and you're outside and the bugle is playing, most, if not all, respectfully face the flag and stand at attention until completion. I've never seen anyone, male or female, remove their hat.

I'm not sure Gabby owes the American people anything. But she owes her teammates something, and as a PP mentioned, she could barely manage to clap (and certainly didn't crack a smile) when Simone and Aly won in the all around. I also think she owes it to the hundreds (or more?) of gymnasts out there who aren't getting the chance to go to the Olympics to fake it and act like she's interested/not bitter. She's a gymnast after all...no athletes no how to fake a smile better.

Where? I have read she is nothing but polite and have never seen her act rudely in an interview.

When they won gold Rugby 7s, they formed a circle and sang together, their tradition before and after games. It was the first medals ever for Fiji, so they have declared a national holiday for when the team returns. Really wonderful!
