What do you think of the name Shoshana?

Congratulations on the adoption!

Odd. That was fiction.

It wasn't her anyway. I really like the name, OP.

This name is for our daughter who we are adopting. Her birth mother made the suggestion because it works as a combination of my name and hers together. I thought that was very sweet.

Our four other children all have three syllable names also. Here they are in case it helps with suggestions: Benjamin, Nathaniel, Miranda & Gwendolyn.

Side note: Our daughter has Down's Syndrome so I just don't think she'll get a lot of questions in school about her name being Jewish and if an adult makes the assumption thats okay with me Jewish names are pretty. We are catholic but I'm cool with anyone named Mary.

Any other suggestions? I am open. She isn't due for 5 more weeks.

It's a pretty name, but it is very Jewish. Susanna is a less religiously marked version of the name, which I think also goes nicely with your other kids' names.

It isn't made up.

Not only is it not made up, it's in the Bible, and has been used as a name for thousands of years. People's ignorance about non-WASP names never ceases to amaze me.

Pretty, Jewish, very feminine

I liked the name until you told me the story, and now I love it. I was considering Asher and am a Christian.

I don't like it.

I don't think it blends particularly well with your other children's names -- which could make her feel more "other" if she is the only one who is adopted. Congrats on the adoption and best wishes to your family.

This reminds me of a clothing line they sell at Nordstrom and elsewhere - I LOVE their dresses! https://www.shoshanna.com/

Cute name and I love that it means rose

You would be uncomfortable because a fictional character with the same name had an abortion?

Shoshanna clothes are made by Jerry's ex, it's her clothing line. She's actually a socialite in NYC, married and now divorced with a couple of kids.
