What do you think of the name Shoshana?

Love it and love "typically Jewish" names!

Agree to all this. Now I think of Shoshana from Girls (who I LOVE) but even that will be ancient history! Beautiful story and name.

Shoshana means rose. I think its beautiful (I am jewish). I would also assume Jewish, but who cares?

Jewish or evangelical Christian, but go for it. Our Lady has a Jewish name too!

Very pretty name. Only association is from the character on HBO's Girls. She is one of the more likable characters -- a "good" girl, talkative and a bit nervous, but that's it. And that show will be done soon and ancient history.

I would just think of the fashion designer/brand. It's not actually my favorite name, but I think you should absolutely use it since it's meaningful!

The only Shoshana I know is Vietnamense-American and lovely.

Like Susanna, but the person has a lisp and cannot pronounce the letter 's'

How about Shosholoza?

I don't know why but I associate it with easy bimbos. Like I said I don't even know why.

This name is for our daughter who we are adopting. Her birth mother made the suggestion because it works as a combination of my name and hers together. I thought that was very sweet.

Our four other children all have three syllable names also. Here they are in case it helps with suggestions: Benjamin, Nathaniel, Miranda & Gwendolyn.

Side note: Our daughter has Down's Syndrome so I just don't think she'll get a lot of questions in school about her name being Jewish and if an adult makes the assumption thats okay with me Jewish names are pretty. We are catholic but I'm cool with anyone named Mary.

Any other suggestions? I am open. She isn't due for 5 more weeks.

This a lovely story! Go for it, and best to all of you.

This is an incredibly sweet story. I love the name knowing this backstory now. Definitely go for it and congratulations!

It's lovely. I love the story too.

I don't like it, but only because of the dual "sh" sounds. Always sounds like a speech impediment to me, as if someone can't properly pronounce the sibilant 's' sound in Susanna.
