Neighbours child lives with us, mom ignores me

It actually DOES seem like the mother doesn't care. Obviously she has issues, and perhaps she is an addict--but her behavior is terribly neglectful.

YES, IT DOES!!!!!!!!!!! that's why the girl is at the other house and not her own -- HER OWN MOTHER IS TERRIBLY NEGLECTFUL. (Sorry for the shouting, but I feel like I'm pointing out the obvious.) Kudos to the girl for seeking out a healthier situation for herself.

One thing I have noticed about responses on this board is that most posters have no experience with seriously 'f'ed situations, so they interpret everything as if the transgressor being discussed is perfectly normal and healthy but acting in a selfish way. They don't get it that some people are addicts, or have PTSD, or are flat broke, or were abused/are abusing, or whatever. It's out of their realm of consciousness. That's why they can say a ten year old girl is using a neighbor when she wants to spend more time in said neighbor's more stable home than the one she has. They DO.NOT.GET it.

I second that, a vocal minority can't look beyond their own narrow experiences and assume negative intent when there is none. That was evident to me on the 'written thank you' thread when they judge people who don't write a thank you card are classes and mannerless. They sure do know it all, don't they?

Not ONE of the parents called to see if they could pick up their child before the storm, or shortly after the storm started(like before there was even snow sticking). Also, not once during that entire stay, did any of the parents call to check on their children. Out of all of the parents, only one actually said thank you for taking care of them for that whole time....

i'm really shocked. wow.

that is really strange. where did you grow up,PP???

I grew up in Potomac, but my sister went to private school, so the girls were from around the area.
