Yes, actually. (I'm the PP who originally questioned 160 and a size 6.) This lady offered a perfectly reasonable explanation-- she's atheletic, so higher muscle density, and has a higher bone density than I do. Fair enough. There's an ethnic component, too-- certain ethnicities have a harder time learning to swim, for example, because higher bone density makes them less buoyant than others. So yes, some people "still believe" in heavy bones, having had first-hand experience. |

5'6"/160/size 6 pp here again. We also have to remember that size is almost meaningless. I may never fit into even a size 12 Banana Republic bc of the way its cut, but all my Express jeans are an 8 and many of my Laundry dresses are a 6.
I dont claim to be a perfect size anything - clothes in my closet range from a 4-12, but the majority are 6-8 (more 6 when I was 155-165 and more 8 when i was 165-172). My sister is 5'0.5", weighs about 120-125 and wears a 2. She is also just a thick girl. Her friends who wear the same size, easily weigh 10 lbs less. |

I am 5'2" and about 134 - the top of the "normal weight" in BMI (like 23 or something), and still fit into a size 4, same size I was at 120 LBS (med bones). What I wonder is do you have to be over weight to be in the larger sizes - above a size 6? Has larger sized become more normal then what small/petite was in the past and is around the world?
I think that if my size of clothing increased I'd do more about my encroaching weight problem. I am a size 10 in international sizes (when I go to Zara). Has anyone else notices this? |
Uh, no. You just have to be tall. 5'2" is short. |
| Yeah, I'm getting pretty sick of the short women on here acting like anyone who wears a 6 or above must be a gorilla. I'm 7 inches taller than the PP and weigh only 10 lbs. more. I am not overweight by any stretch of the imagination. I usually wear an 8, although I have a couple 10s in my wardrobe as well. |

5'9" 149. I have 9 more lbs. to go and am six months pp from DC#2.
Interesting Thing is: I was in the mid 150's - early 160's for all of my 20's and early 30's. Then after DC #1 at 33, I got addicted to running as a stress reliever and went down to 140 and maintained it until next pregnancy at 35. So now I'm 36 and hope to get back to 140 by July...we can all do it! |

5'7' - pre pregnancy 115 lbs
31 weeks pregnant 136 lbs Size 1/2 pre-pregnancy, depending on brand |
| Where were all you under 5' 6'' women when I was dating?? Oh and just to be fair, 5' 6'' and 250 lbs (I wish I could say it was baby weight, but it is sit at a desk all day and eat ice cream at night weight). |
So the larger sizes represent LONGER... |
Or maybe she does't need to lose any, and needs to gain enough muscle to kick yer butt. |
I have a very similar body to you. I have very large bones for a female (I always have to have bracelets made bigger), plus a lot of muscle. It will never cease to amaze me that some people think size and weight correspond with each other. Even now that I am much heavier then I used to be...people do not think I look like I weigh as much as I do. My waist is small and I gain the weight in my butt and legs. |
Aren't you afraid you're going to die young? Or that you're burdening our healthcare system because you're obese at that height and weight? |
Oh please. May s/he is, and maybe s/he isn't. (Can't tell gender of poster.) That was not a very nice thing to say. 5'4" 115 lbs, married to 5'7" 145 lbs. |

5'5" / 189 lbs.
So hard to lose it now that I'm older! |
5'2 176. Size 12. I think I look great! I am curvy as hell in all the right places and I get lots of looks ALL of the time...
A little skinnier? I would like to be, but I have come to appreciate my body and everything it does everyday! |
