VYS Soccer - better or worse?

Not true.

Did he fire coaches in midseason? I know at least one that left.

Two of the 3 coaches in my kid's age group were fired last week.

And the message sent to parents about it was appalling. Made it sound like the terminated coaches were criminal and apt to still try to represent themselves as VYS coaches. Unfortunate wording, I suspect, but nothing that sows faith in this TD's ability to communicate with and a direct a soccer club, sadly.

He's a terrible communicator. Kids who didn't make travel were told the ways in which their kids were "impotent."

Parents at a well run club would not likely be consulted beforehand if there was a one-off firing of a coach, but they would certainly receive at least a general explanation of the reason for the change (even if merely an email saying the old coach was leaving to "pursue opportunities elsewhere") and an introduction to the new coach. I've never heard of a mass firing of coaches happening mid-year, but that sort of a major change requires immediate and careful communication with parents.

What about that is untrue? I was certainly not made aware of any such changes prior to this going down. My fees have gone up and this club has done nothing but continue to chop programs and promise professional coaches then leave us hanging. This entire new regime is less than organized and dont take ownership of their incompetence. They continue to point the finger at the old tech team, saying that "they are "cleaning up their mess" EXACTLY WHAT MESS??!! Since this change we have 1. We have hired more expensive, incompetent and socially inept staff, 2. cut several great and successful programs, 3.our club has shrunk SIGNIFICANTLY, 4.fired well qualified coaches for no good reason and insulted them unprofessionally in the announcement to families and last but not least 5. OUR FEES HAVE BEEN RAISED!
just trying to understand... which of the above mentioned FACTS were part of the strategy to FIX what our old TD created???! The only hope this club has to stay above water is the hope that this board's term is about to END! We need to get those individuals far far away from the boardroom and try to pull us out of the hole that they have dug for our club. We still have potential. We simply need to recruite members with no stone to grind on anyone and have the kids best interest first and foremost.

I don't think a new board would solve anything. I don't know what hidden agendas the current board members have, and there's been a lot of turnover even since the new TD was hired.

Have to ask again -- how do you know the club has shrunk? Registration for the spring House season is ongoing. Have travel teams folded, and not just to spend the spring playing high school soccer?

I don't know about registration for spring but here is a quote from the September Board meeting minutes from the VYS website:

Discussion about lower level of participants for both house and travel programs from prior years. Staff said that they did not know of a particular item or items that would have caused the reduction. Rich mentioned that there were steps being taken to address adding players to selected travel teams where the current number of players was not sustainable.

Wow! I dont want any part of this conversation. Sounds like alot of frustrated parents! I used to play with Eduardo at Mason. My family just moved back to the area and I am looking for a good club for my daughter. Does anyone know if Eduardo transitioned into another local club?

I know. EVERYONE knows... that comment asking how I Know that the registration numbers have dwindled is Prob a board member trying to convince people that we are in a strong position as a club. You know, those wanna bes being TRANSPARENT again..

Yup, that will prob stop after this! Ha. They prob didnt think that frustrated members would get online and read the workings of this leadership when it started falling apart. Did they think we wouldnt notice!? Well had I been in attendance at the Sept. Board meeting, I would have cleared that mystery right up! It doesnt take a super slueth! item(s) creating the mass exodus from our club started with this board and their incompetent decisions. The club has continued to decline since the hiring of our very well paid TD. Geeze, even several of the BOD members kids have hit the road! I believe the jokers creating this should have to stay! If thats not a red flag, I dont know what is!

Lol! Sounds to me like a huge blessing in disquise for Lima! I dont know how he continued to thrive and get so much accomplished with all the road blocks they set up and all that dysfunction! Cant help but wonder where our club would be if we could rewind this disaster and continue to build on what we had going. Its a Shame.

Ah, I remember that. I was there, though I'm not on the Board. But they weren't extraordinary numbers.

I absolutely think the new TD has been a disaster. But the sky isn't falling to the extent that you see on this board, just as it wasn't falling at all (other than not winning anything, which isn't a big deal) when Eddie was in charge and people were still calling out VYS for this and that.
