If new TD can sideline a NoVa legend like Hank Leung for disagreeing with him, he can let anyone go. Board won't stop any firing spree. European model is complete control and that's what they committed to.

Is that approach working ?

Who is running the Cross over program. The information on the website is very limited.

Will be current travel coaches. Will be announced at parent meetings this week.

Eddie had a passion for VYS that no other TD can match. He believed in the community approach and development of the players. VYS was one of the only clubs in the area looking after their own players and not focused on the players from outside. Unfortunately that is gone now and its a shame. The BOD made a huge mistake.

I heard they just couldn't keep him. Thought it was money or his own wishes to move on. The average VYS parent doesn't really know what happened.

It was primarily a business thing. Eddie and his crew had a complicated deal.

But there's no question the club is worse off without him, Jane Dawber and company. Granted, it would've helped if the new hire was anything but the disaster he has turned out to be -- tone-deaf, petty, utterly devoid of good ideas.

(Of course, it's funny how the anti-VYS folks on this board were happy to bash away during Eddie's tenure as well.)

Who were the main people involved in bringing the TD, and what do they have to say about the situation?

yeah, there probably are some parents who are holding out hope for some magical unicorn of youth soccer leadership, which just ain't gonna happen. But count me as one of those who thinks VYS used to be better, before last year's change. I felt like Eddie, Jane, and the rest of that staff actually cared about my kids. Heck, they knew my kids through participation in the extracurricular programs offered. Now they're offering so much less.

Current Board supposedly loves him and believes he is doing a great job. No chance that things change until his contract runs out.

Thanks. I've been following the VYS saga for years on the NoVa soccer thread, and find the whole situation fascinating. I seem to recall that a VYS officer made an appearance on the other thread to refute some of the allegations that had been made by various detractors. It would be good to hear from a current board member or proxy why they think the TD is doing a great job and what positive results will come of that for VYS families. Perhaps that will be covered in an upcoming meeting with parents, but I'd like to read about it here to get a better sense of the whole picture. So far, most of the responses to OP's question have been in the negative column.

Based on his numerous posts on this site about VYS, unless he's gotten some new sources, he knows very little about the politics at his own club.

The "whiny parent" commenter? I hope they have something more substantive to offer than that!

(Note that I'm not suggesting anyone actually owes me or any other random internet stranger an explanation or analysis. But I'd love to hear one anyway!)

here come the VYS board members...

if the politics of the club or anything else being discussed is wrong or inaccurate, it would be better for club if they identified what is mistaken rather than speculating about who is posting here and insulting some random person i don't even know.
