We (by which I mean people in the US) are already getting killed because of the ridiculous number of guns and the ridiculous laxity of gun laws in this country. Thanks, bought-and-paid-for political hacks who have 100% ratings from the NRA and morons like this poster! |
See the post right above yours. You are another naive one. As if there is no chance for interaction between the 13 yr old and the man just because they aren't in the same classes. |
You're so right PP. This is the kind of scenario I was imagining. I can't believe how many people grew up in some sheltered bubble and have no clue what could happen to them. I'm sorry you had to be scared like that. |
| I can't believe people are okay with 20+ yr olds even being in a high school, refugees, gang-related or not. That is insane to me. You are talking some 9 year gaps in kids. |
Schools are full of 19 year old seniors thanks to redshirting.. this is not about refugees or gangs, it's about the 1% trying to secure their 1% status. |
Oh no, a 13-year-old girl might interact with a 20-year-old man? I think everybody knows what kind of specific "interaction" you're talking about. I wish you would be clear about that: argument here is that if a 13-year-old girl is in the same high school building as 20-year-old man, she might get raped, so therefore 20-year-old men should not be allowed in high school. |
That's the law. If you don't like the law, contact your state legislator. |
There is a whole different world that exists outside of our affluent bubble, and these poorer communities pay the human cost for allowing in these gang members. As a society we need to think a little bit about the stark reality instead of the theoretical concepts. |
What is the law? What is the cut-off? Can a 25yr old go to high school too? Can he play sports, be in clubs, go to dances? Totally bizarre. |
No, a 25-year-old cannot go to high school. You must be less than 21 on the first day of school. Note that this applies to girls/women as well as boys/men. |
And support MCPS policies that provide smart alternatives to students who would otherwise by 5th and 6th year seniors. I used to teach HS Plus which permitted both credit recovery (for struggling students who often couldn't afford summer school) and acceleration (for students who wanted to finish HS earlier, often the bored MC kids). The program was cut largely for budgetary reasons. Tell your council person that you are willing to pay a little extra in taxes so that your 13 year old Larla doesn't have to take Algebra I with 19 year old Larlito. |
| Seriously, would people on here be any less scared of this hypothetical man if he were 18 than if he were 20? They are just afraid of a Hispanic man around their freshman girl, period. The only way for them to solve this would be to not allow their child to go to school with Hispanics, or males, or 18-year-olds. |

People who kill are raging. The killing/violence is a symptom of a bigger problem. Too afraid to address that?? Why? |

Where do you think our Mo Co gang members come from? PG and DC You're an idiot. |
