News and Media really has you believing they happen all the time? |
I know a couple of people from Eastern Europe who came as refugees. They are law abiding citizens and pay taxes. Or are you saying that only refugees that are not dark skin assimilate and don't cause trouble? |
The few that have happened is more than enough, don't you think? How many gangs shoot up schools? |
All the time? No. Too often? Yes. Don't you agree? |
You would have to do a comparison of the amount of violent crime of those who are third generation Americans and higher to refugees and first generation Americans for me to even care about your statement. |
Actually no. I think schools are safe. If I didn't, I wouldn't send my kids to one. I also think flying in a plane is safe too, and going on the Metro, and driving a car, and going to a concert, and going to a French cafe. If you think gun control will stop some crazy people from shooting up other people in a school or outside a school, you are mistaken. |
So we are cool with gangs in our school because they don't shoot them up? Got it! |
How did your 3rd generation American become 3rd generation? Oh that's right, they or their ancestors immigrated here, legally or otherwise. Your solution is to not allow in any foreigners? I went to a gang infested HS. They were mostly 3rd generation+. |
Not the point of the argument. The point is that American bred wackos are more dangerous to our society, partially because of lax gun control, than refugees. |
Then why doesn't it happen in other countries? http://www.npr.org/sections/itsallpolitics/2015/10/03/445266632/-memeoftheweek-that-article-from-the-onion-about-mass-shootings Also, yes, in general, schools are safe. However, some schools, at some points in time, are not safe -- for example, the ones where there is a school shooting, when there is a school shooting. Yes, school shootings are rare. But they are not non-existent. |
Let's see. I was born here, but one of my parents was an immigrant. So if I committed a violent crime, I would go in the undesirable/not-US/shouldn't-have-let-'em-in category of criminals? |
If your kids were at Wootton then you would be correct, mainly because these immigrant kids are not going to attend Wootton. How about while we sit comfortable in our sheltered liberal enclave we think a little bit about the decent families and kids in the lower SEC that have to deal with thugs like this? This type of crime is always more focussed in their own immigrant communities, it will probably never effect us in the higher SEC but it doesn't mean we should act like everything is fine. It's very easy to be sheltered and sit in denial. Not so easy for the victims, or the hard working immigrants that are trying to raise decent next generation Americans. |
| The lower and higher SEC? Like Auburn and Florida? Otherwise I honestly don't know what you mean. |
These unaccompanied minor immigrants and the 5 arrested in Honduras yesterday have nothing to do with the refugee resettlement process that is at issue. The refugee resettlement process involves 18-24 months of background checks and screening prior to the immigrant ever setting foot into the United States. The vast majority of those arrested and/or convicted of terrorism related charges - and the 9/11 terrorists - entered the US on tourist, student or work visas - visas that are much easier to obtain than refugee resettlement. |
That's mean, PP. You're ruining their upsetness with facts. |
