New Bravo Show: Real Housewives of Potomac

I see the wrinkled ladies' claws are coming out for the beautiful black women on this show. Granted all of their clothing choices are questionable. I'm excited about watching this latest entry into the RHO franchise. I grew up in MoCo among the black elite and it's an extremely small community. Most of my mom's and aunt's friends looked like this 25-40 years ago.

They will be getting into the biracial vs. black issue and I'm sure colorism will be discussed at length.

The "black elite"? "Colorism"? Hmm, ok.

This was my first thought.
- MoCo native who has never watched any of the RH shows

It is very Jewish, why couldn't they just have had Jewish women or done RHW of PG???

Because the couldn't get any of those women to do this.

Everyone knows there is nothing real about any of these reality series, so maybe we should all come down from our high horses. I'd rather watch these women than ehat you all would consider the "real" women in Potomac. These women actually seem to have some spunk and personality.

+1. They will not show these women in Potomac just like they don't show ATL in Buckead or the far out burbs that they live in. For all intents and purposes it will be DC/elite black women/Jack and Jill types. I know at least two of them are AKAs.

At least one is a Delta too

I know one of them too. She's actually pretty nice.

"Real Housewives of Upper Marlboro" just wouldn't have the same ratings appeal.

So true for much of Potomac!

Really? I could've afforded Bethesda, but chose Potomac. Didn't feel like being on top of people all the time. We have a beautiful wooded home and couldn't be happier. YMMV.

That said, these women don't look like most people I see in Potomac.

Before we moved we had a beautiful, huge lot in Bethesda with lots of trees and woods. Couldn't even see our neighbors.

Plenty of lots like that in Bethesda... But you have to be willing to pay extra.

The cast is no all black women people!

The young one married to Austrailian millionaire should be interesting. She's 24 and former Miss DC. I think they did better job casting than DC (which was half-assed).

THIS! I don't know why posters are getting riled up over the show being labeled "Potomac". It's obviously just a do over of the snooze fest that was RHODC.

You don't know much about Chicago. It's verrrrrry white minus the south side which only had one wealthy area.

Said the girl from the North Shore. Chicago is a third black with large populations of Hispanics and Asians. It's only forty percent white which makes them the minority. So not exactly verrrrry white.

Potomac has ratings appeal?

Know couple of these woman and they have really interesting stories so I think the show should be pretty good. Also, the ones that I know do incredible charitable work and I hope that is emphasized on the show.

That's what I was thinking. Not exactly the go-to town in which to set an AA show. Plus - I highly doubt there is ANYBODY in Potomac who wears that kind of makeup and dresses like those women. It all seems like an elaborate farce.

Actually, people do and it is kind of funny.

There goes the neighborhood...

This is freaking hilarious. Potomac was "over" already, but surely this is the nail in the coffin.
