Considering a second ear piercing....

Anonymous
I got a second and third hole two years ago (I was 41) Also pierced the top of my ear (so 5 additional holes total!. I love them. I got my first tattoo as well. I'm a professional with 3 graduate degrees from top schools. My job involves a lot of public speaking and no one even batted an eyelash. I'm thrilled. They make me happy and I can wear fun studs in them. At least once a day I think how much I like it. Weird, I know but true.

I’ve got to additional piercings in my left ear from the 90s- they have remain unused for ca 25 year but now… Love the top one! Put a small diamond stud in it and really like it. I’m not trashy if I may so say… neither am I a stuffy frump. Live life, decorate your ears. Frost them with diamonds and sparkle away!

No, I like wearing fun earrings at times and don't want to have to match two pairs. And, my friends who go their ears double pierced in the 90s regretted it, or don't use the second hole any more. One has them pierced to close together, they ripped when their kid pulled on an earring, and age eventually had to have plastic surgery. So, worse case scenario.

So, I wouldn't. But if you are in your late 30s and think it would be wonderful, go for it.

I think it's so cute. Gwyneth Paltrow, Sienna Miller, etc have multiple piercings. It seems on trend these days

I was reading this thread recently because I was considering getting a THIRD lobe piercing (the horror!). For anyone on the fence about a second or third I just wanted to say that... I'm so glad I did it, I love it! If you want it, go for it.

Still have mine from the 90's and love dressing it up or down.

+1. I don’t think I would even notice, but I definitely wouldn’t view it as trashy or tacky or immature or anything…

Thanks for posting PP! I have two ear lobe piercings (I'm loling at it being "trashy" - my mom and I went for our second lobe piercings together back in the 90s when I was 10 and she was 40 - it's a nice memory I have!) and I have been thinking of a third lobe piercing and perhaps some other random ear piercing like cartilage etc. I love the new trend of the "curated ear." I can't believe how many people in this thread think it is somehow tacky to have more than one ear piercing.

I didn't really like my second ones and let them close up (I'm 50 now) it just got to be too much of a pain to "match" dual earrings for me as I got older.

This is a thousand percent not true. All the younger ladies at my office (finance) have second and third lobe piercings and then maybe one other random ear piercing.
