Question for EOTP Wilson feeders

Think about how different DC and DCPS are in 2015 versus 2000. No-one knows what will happen in 2030 but you can bet that the city and its schools will look very different from today. This is a rapidly changing city, and 15 years is a lifetime in DCPS.

For example, shortsighted posters on DCUM assume that the Deal/Wilson boundaries will be the only big issue in the next boundary review, but I bet it will revolve around more fundamental issues like coordination with charters.

+1 except didn't they make it law when they said next review would be in 10 years?

AFAIK it was a recommendation only. It is not law and it is not automatic. Mayor would have to purposefully start the process. There is an "automatic" review supposedly triggered if schools get too crowded, but again the mayor would actually have to take action.

How else will we ever get good schools in other neighborhoods if all the strong elementaries feed to Deal and Hardy?

It's spelled Shepherd.

I didn't want to say anything, but you did it for me. This irks me every time. Never have I seen the word spelled "Shephard" or "Shepard," as I've seen here. Why can't some DCUMers spell the word correctly?

Ok, carry on.

Why would they jump to a new middle school when they have been going to Deal for 15 years, 25 by the time the new zoning will be done? Would you like Lafayette to jump on the chance to go to a new middle school since they are ward 4? Some people that attend Shepherd are not EOTP or WOTP, they literally live IN the park.

Yes, take a look at say, Parkside Dr. (zoned for Shepherd), and then upper Oregan Ave., just ~1/2 mile west, as the crow flies (zoned for Lafayette). The bit of green space in between does seem to be an arbitrary geographical distinction.

I hope that the PP didn't learn to spell at Wilson!

Ack, *Oregon* not Oregan. Typing too fast before and don't want to raise the ire of the grammar/spelling police!

Meant people misspell it as Capital Hill and not the proper Capitol Hill.
