Frontline did a really good documentary on this recently. Pretty much cried my way through it: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/escaping-isis/ |
The power vacuum existed because Obama gave up all our men had accomplished. We had Iraq. Obama got the people killed |
You like lying to yourself. Does it make you feel better to live in fantasy land? The power vacuum existed once Woolforwitz decided that anyone affiliated with the Baathist could not have jobs. What did you think would happen when a couple thousand former soldiers, scientist, police officers, etc who are suddenly unemployed. |
I'm not that lawyer, but I would be okay with it, even after this news. The United States is supposed to be a country that believes in the rule of law. We shouldn't torture and we shouldn't hold people without criminal trials and we shouldn't hold people without granting them free access to the courts. If we do, we are no better than ISIS -- just another group of chimps with sticks chasing another group of chimps with sticks. If you hold yourself to a higher standard, you are sometimes vulnerable to scum like that. It doesn't mean that you should embrace scumminess, though, and act like them. You just fight harder, within the confines of the law and justice. |
Not PP. I have been raped. Twice. PP is not wrong. |
Saudi Arabia, which is hardly poor, remains the #1 source of ISIS fighters and overseas jihadis in general. They are neither poor nor uneducated. |
+1. IIRC, several of the 9/11 hijackers were highly educated and from well-to-do families. |
What alternate universe do you live in? There was no point after Saddam was toppled that there wasn't violence among the various sects in Iraq. |
Why is this even a story? We knew that Kayla Mueller had been held captive, and it was certainly not a leap of logic to assume that she had been raped. Imagine the pain her family must feel by seeing these articles... |
