+1. Usually they have the taste to post a stock photo of the beach in question. That was repugnant. |
| We are going to Hatteras soon and my kids will be permitted in the water as usual. We are usually out of the water by 4 PM anyway, back at the house getting everyone showered and dinner started. I will make sure we stick to that this year. |
Okay... so now... we all agree... no going into the water if you are having your period.

| Nothing to contribute but this news was so scary! |
Agree. Not to mention potentially traumatizing for the viewer! |
| Don't go swimming near a fishing pier. I actually know someone who was bitten by a shark. She was swimming in an area where they were throwing chum into the water. |
| We are going to Carolina Beach which is 48 miles from Oak Island. I have always followed the duh rules of no swimming near piers or fishermen and not at dusk but am still a but hesitant about having my kids swimming IN the water. I'm thinking it'll just be a see when we get there situation. |

How shallow was the water they were swimming in?
|
That sounds like a gross place to go for a swim. |
| Whatever you do, stay away from women on their periods. |
Waist deep |
| Sounds like your chum was chum. Sorry. Couldn't resist. |
This is true. If you are near a pier - don't go in the water. |
