| OBX off Ocracoke. 68 year old man. |
http://myfox8.com/2015/07/01/shark-attack-reported-at-ocracoke-island-in-nc/ yikes! poor man |
| Wasn't there another shark attack today? Are you guys letting your dc swim if you already have a trip planned? |
The experts say the opposite. It's an increase in the food supply near shore (they specifically mention sea turtles). |
| I'm SO glad my ex cancelled his annual OBX trip this year (for non-shark reasons). I can't imagine the fight we would have had when I tried to get him to keep the kids out of the ocean down there.... |
| There either needs to be shark nets or some type of culling I don't see any way around it without risking the OBX economy. |
|
It's a weird year with the water temps being higher than average and the unusual current. They should look at the whole sea turtle and beach restriction aspect and see if that is contributing to this problem because honestly it's the one big change that's been made over the past few years and suddenly there is a shark problem. Could be a coincidence...but something to look at.
I'm not sure how they would go about maintaining a shark netting. It's hard enough to keep the roads in one piece! |
Agreed. Shark tank fencing around designated swimmer areas. |
|
Designated swimmer area? Isn't that like most of the shoreline?
|
| OP here. We're definitely not going more than ankle deep when we visit. |
Can't be anymore. |
This is a perfect idea
|
Is this real? Where is it? I need to make reservations! |
