College and University Discussion
So lets have blatant racism against Asians broadcasted and then force-feed it to them. Aces. |
Why it is impossible to have a meaningful discussion on any topic on this forum. |
I used to think so too, but in the thread about Indian Americans someone provided a long list of Indian Corporate executives, so apparently many Asians are in positions of power and I, guess, as many are creative people. |
Yeah I was the one who dropped that post. I'm the OP as well. I posted it to combat what many think - i.e. asians are not leadership material. I don't think the bamboo ceiling exists (all that much, maybe very slightly) in the private sector but it sure as hell does in elite college admissions. Unlike a lot of Asian-Americans who want the policy reversed, I'm OK (grudgingly) with it being status quo but just being transparent and honest. When I was interviewing and BCG, Bain, McKinsey, Goldman - I never felt I had to attain a 'higher bar' due to my race to get a job. However, when I applied to UG and Grad school, I definitely felt that. That's why I wrote the post also about where do URM ivy grads go? Because even though ivies have the best pipelines into elite strategy consulting, banking, and technology, blacks and hispanics do not show up during OCI or in the ranks of these target areas that elite grads fight to get into. Where I did see URM ivy alums more frequently are when I moved to DC and worked in gov and on the hill. I assume top law schools are the other avenue? I have no idea what the racial composition of biglaw is at the associate level with respect to % of URM's at t14 schools. |
| This thread went off the rails in some really strange directions. I've removed a lot of those messages, but I'm going to lock the thread as well. |
