Lesser of two evils: Prince George's or Prince William County?

Anonymous
I have actually lived both places. I liked PG better - and that is no knock on PWC.

Schools were not an issue because our kids were going Catholic. But we enjoyed being close to DC, Baltimore and Annapolis. PWC felt isolated and the commute into DC was horrifc. Also, TBH in PWC we experienced more crime firsthand than when we lived in PG, but that could be because we had neighbors whose teens were in the pot/drug crowd.

There were pros and cons to both, but we liked PG a little better.

PWC poor white who could not afford FFX. They created their own "Breaking Bad" population.. PG, middle class Blacks running from DC innercity dysfunction, only to be followed by poor Blacks ruining the county.

This is so true

I don't think "poor Blacks ruining the county" is the problem in PG, sorry. You sound ridiculous and racist. PG's problems came before DC's gentrification, and crime is actually dropping now, and more developments are moving in.

This article is 3 years old, but it lists PWC even above MoCo in median income.

I've seen more recent rankings that don't have PWC in the top 10, but the ones I've seen don't go beyond 10, so I'm thinking PWC would still be around number 11, 12, etc. And on those, MoCo isn't in the top 10 either. http://wtop.com/news/2012/02/10-of-top-15-richest-counties-are-in-dc-suburbs/

PW >>>>>>> PG

Less crime, more diversity, more nature

Basically true. PG isn't very diverse. It's mostly black and white an very segregate compared to PWC.

It is the only county on the boarder of DC that is left to move to that has reasonable prices. More and more folks are figuring this out and you are seeing the sales happen more and more. Commute is becoming a big selling point more and more every year. Schools, not hot good but that will change over time as parents move into the area and start demanding more from the schools.

Not if parents continue sending their children to private and parochial schools.

A lot of people don't realize that Prince William County is among the wealthiest counties in the US! http://www.forbes.com/sites/tomvanriper/2013/04/25/americas-richest-counties/

Plenty of wealthy people live here - people who are smart enough not to pay $800,000 for a teardown just because it's in Fairfax County.

While these events would not be great, it would be better than raising a family among the soul-destroying ugliness and cultural vacuum that is Prince William County. Better than we perish while memories of happier times are still fresh in our minds. That said, there is a nice camp ground in PW forest.

This is not true. On our cul-de-sac in PG we have 3 AA families, a Hispanic family, a Middle Eastern family, an Indian family, and a Vietnamese family.

I don't see why OP (or others) feel the need to pit the two counties against each other. They are two very different places and I'm sure each has it good points and bad.

The only thing these two counties have in common is the word "Prince." I would go for PWC any day over PG

Obvious troll post, especially since the OP has not been back.
