Lesser of two evils: Prince George's or Prince William County?

PG has many very nice areas with very little crime. A few bad areas most of which border DC have cause the entire county to be unfairly stereotyped. I've only been to PW a few times so I can't comment on it.

I live in western Prince William County. I love where I live. I wouldn't love a commute into DC from here though--thankfully that is not an issue for me.

western PWC if I could take the VRE right to work and telecommute some days.

can't afford private schools so PG county is automatically out.

PG absolutely. Like others have mentioned, there are some very nice areas there plus lots of new development and buzz. It's close to dc with lots of parts metro accessible. PWC is far out and, to be honest, the acronym pretty much betrays what a lot of people equate it with.....

PG, no question. If you're not afraid of black people, there are some gorgeous areas. Most of PG outside the beltway has similar crime rates to MoCo, it's just the inside the beltway, high-crime, areas that give it a bad rap. If it weren't for the commute, I might consider living there...maybe Bowie or Hyattsville...

PW has many very nice areas with very little crime and good schools. A few bad areas along Route 1 and parts of Manassas/Manassas Park have caused the entire county to be unfairly stereotyped. Most of the people on DCUM who trash PWC have never set foot in the county.

Not this again. Random people who really know nothing about PG bashing it. The higher crime rate of PG county is in the roughly 3% of the county that is inside the beltway. The 97% or so of the county that is outside the Capitol beltway has comparable crime statistics with MoCo and Fairfax counties. Schools in PG are horrible, so bad the realtors usually don't even bother to identify them. Those in the western part of PWC are actually pretty good.

Schools in PG are horrible, so bad the realtors usually don't even bother to identify them. Those in the western part of PWC are actually pretty good.

PWC is probably fine just way too far. PG gets my vote
