I liked the recent American Experience episodes on the circus and on eugenics. |
“Kansas: Miracles Out of Nowhere” is showing on cable now. If you ever liked “Dust in the Wind” or”Carry On My Wayward Son”, this is a fun one to watch. |
Obit. About the people who write obits for the NYT. Fascinating/not depressing! |
The Barkley Marathons is fun. It was on Amazon Prime a few months ago; not sure about now. |
Food, Inc.
How we treat animals, farmers, and by extension all of society makes us callous and uncaring. The food industry and companies like Monsanto are explored. I found it fascinating. Changes my shopping practices. |
Country Boys is on PBS I think. Another one on Frontline is Poor Kids. I teach in a Title 1 school and some of these kids remind me of my students. |
All the Queen's Horses - - It's about a city comptroller in a very small town in IL that embezzled $53 Million dollars over the course of 20 years.
I think it's on Netflix and apple TV |
Anyone watching the new season of Making a Murderer?
Not exactly a documentary, but I just watched Salt/Fat/Acid/Heat and it was awesome. |
Soaked in Bleach- about the conspiracy theory surrounding Kurt Cobain's death. |
From last year, I really liked "The Defiant Ones" about Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine. |
Saw it many years ago but was blown away by Standing in the Shadows of Motown. It's the story of The Funk Brothers, the uncredited band behind all of the Motown hits They apparently played on more number-one hits than the Beatles, Elvis Presley, the Rolling Stones and the Beach Boys combined. |
+1 |
The Keepers-on Netflix-about the Catholic Church and a Murdered Nun...the cover up...so sad!
Food Inc-on Netflix (older but so worth a watch if you care about where you food comes from) |
Another great food one- Fed Up. It's about all the lies the sugar industry has told us and how sugar is in all of our food and making us sick. |
