Recently saw Cutie and the Boxer on Netflix - about a couple of Japanese artists with an unusual relationship. Really good.

Not sure if it's technically a documentary, but John Adams on Amazon Prime is very, very well done. Especially if you like history. They took some liberty with stuff (haha a pun!) but the acting is terrific and it really brings the Founding Fathers to life.

Looks like Thin is off Netflix. It was on all summer. Here's a list of 100 docs on Netflix. I recently enjoyed The Joan Rivers one at 101.

"Stories We Tell" is a wonderful documentary by Sarah Polley about her mother and family secrets. I think it streams on Amazon Prime.

I love documentaries, so thank you for this thread, OP! I am definitely going to look for some of the ones posted here. And I really liked Jiro Dreams of Sushi, too.

I watched Som on a flight a while back and thought it was pretty interesting.

Grizzly Man is good but really tough to watch (story is just so disturbing).

I watched something recently on HBO about those horrific murders in CT... The Cheshire Murders. Good, but again - very disturbing.

I'll try to think of some others...
