My 3 yo son didn't watch me put maple syrup on his oatmeal--meltdown when I didn't add more.

Double meltdowns from both of my kids (then 3 and 5) because the 3 year old is as tall as the 5 year old; that meant the 3 year old thought he was older than the 5 year old. The 3 year old melted down when told he was YOUNGER than his sister and the 5 year old melted down because she thought that it meant her brother was OLDER than she was.

Meltdown last night because the bath water was wet.

My son ran around hysterical because his shadow would not stop following him. I told him to run under a tree, his shadow could not find him under a tree. Whew! Shadow gone. Every time he tried to walk back to the house his shadow would magically show up and he would scream.

I wish I had this on video.

I've found that if I acknowledge why my toddler is so angry, the tantrum is much, much shorter. For example, if she's screaming in the morning when I wake her up, I'll just say something like, "You're so mad I woke you up too early! You are soooo mad! I know. I feel like that when I have to wake up early too. You're mad. You don't want to wake up early." Then she sniffles for a while and it's over. I taught my DH to do this and he was amazed that it worked. You have to do it in an outraged voice, like it makes you mad, too. I learned it from the guy who wrote "Happiest Toddler on the Block," Harvey Karp.

3yo DD had a meltdown this morning in the car because the car did not have an umbrella.

2.5 year old had a tantrum for an hour because I flushed his poop down the toilet.

He wanted it back.

Mine cried for 10 minutes this morning because I got out of bed. (Not that he was in it either.)

This morning, my 17-month old was furiously screaming because the Fisher Price Cozy Coupe only opens on one side. He usually just walks around to the functioning door, but he took it personally this morning for some reason.
